We just got our dock back on the river and are ready for tours to begin again after this historic high August river level. The mud will start dropping out of the river this weekend. We will finally be back on the river this week after 3 weeks of unprecedented August high water. The weather is perfect and this starts the prettiest time of the season on the water right through to October. This historic once in 500 year August flood continues to challenge everyone along the river including the Corps of Engineers who are trying to let water out of dams at a pace fast enough to get rid of excess water but not so fast as to flood downstream towns and cities. The current forecast is for the river to stay very high through the weekend and then begin dropping sometime early next week. We now anticipate being off the water through next Weds August 26th. Man thinks he has control of the river then along comes an unprecedented rain event like we had the last week and it becomes apparent that nature is in charge. Capt Paul Nicholson

Well just when the river was looking good I received a notification that the dams upriver will be releasing a huge amount of excess flood water starting now and will bring the river in Madison up another 10 ft. This will completely cover the boat ramp in Madison and put the dock at Captains Quarters Restaurant in Louisville underwater through Friday. I have no choice but to cancel all river tours through Friday August 21 as this large amount of water passes through. We were back on the river today with a wonderful group of guests for the 40 mile 2 hr Scenic River Tour. Saw 8 Bald Eagles and we enjoyed the cooler temperature and less humidity. Thank you to the Lighthouse Restaurant and Lucas & Erica for letting us use their dock until the water drops enough for ours to be put back in place. Capt Paul
