Today is a sea day, which means I’ll be doing one of my favorite Alaska activities: whale watching from the ship!

I’ll have my binoculars close all day, whether I’m on the balcony, walking the outside decks or enjoying the view from one of the ship’s lounges.

I’ll also be enjoying some of the included food and drinks on board, like coffee from the coffee shop, a slice of pizza from Sorrento’s and maybe even some fish and chips from "Fish and Ships".

In Alaska, a sea day is never “just” a sea day. The scenery, wildlife and delicious food are all part of the experience, so keep your eyes on the water—and your appetite ready!

Today we are visiting Icy Strait Point, one of my favorite Alaska cruise ports.

This port always feels like one of the most authentic stops to me.

I love learning about the people of nearby Hoonah, exploring the old cannery and seeing how the area’s history has been preserved.

Of course, we are also heading out on a whale-watching tour with a wonderful local company. I’ll have my binoculars ready and will be watching for every splash, spout and tail!

Today’s Skagway adventure is going to include a little speed, adrenaline and a stop at Klondike for a famous Doughboy!

We are heading out on an ocean raft adventure across the waters surrounding Skagway. I am expecting beautiful scenery, fresh Alaska air and a fast, exciting ride.

Afterward, we’ll slow things down and spend some time exploring historic downtown Skagway.

We’ll probably grab a Doughboy at Klondike Doughboy shop, then enjoy some shopping and sightseeing. Adventure first, dessert second!

Today we are exploring Juneau!

Our plans include seeing the beautiful Mendenhall Glacier and stopping at Tracy’s King Crab Shack for some famous Alaskan crab.

And we may even make our way to the Red Dog Saloon for a Duck Fart. Yes, that is really the name of an Alaska cocktail!

Glaciers, crab and a little Juneau fun. This should be a good day!
