This is the best reason to be closed in the winter. Long, curvred driveway, deep culvert on one side. Hubby doesn't have to plow the lane with his circulation restrictions in hands and feet. You can't even see where the L shaped driveway is. Last year, a lost individual drove across the yard, not knowing there was a curve. 3.5 inches on the railing of the ramp, but I think it has compacted a little. There is more like 5 inches on my raised bed garden.

I have quilts arriving Wednesday that will keep me busy until I close shop for the winter. Those arrivals are the last I will be accepting until March 20, 2026. I hope the winter is not as snowy or icy as being predicted, but I'm glad my hubby and I won't have to scrape it off our long driveway or keep salt on the ramp and walkway. Safer for everyone all around. So, until spring rolls around, and the Lord wills, stay safe, warm, and have a quilty winter. ( I will still have some posts on my YouTube channel : Hoosierquiltwhisperer during winter months and some history quilt photos here.)

I learned something doing this quilt. Love it when I learn something new. We paired batik fabric with a regular quilt cotton backing and used polydown for batting as wanted the quilting to be more pronounced but not in color- in texture. The batik is a tighter weave, higher thread count. The backing was not. The texturing shows up more on the softer fabric- the back albeit still showing up on the front better than cotton would have. I guess that's physics 101. Love the outcome and the new knowledge.

This textured quilting pattern pairs well with this modern quilt. See how well defined the pattern shows? Polydown batting. One of the miracles of the quilting world. Feels like wool, behaves like wool, half the price of wool. My Gammill dealer said that was the only kind they carry in the shop simply because of how good it looks quilted.

Love this tree quilt. I just gotta make me one. Gold thread and Christmas tree pattern kicks it up a lot.

This makes me feel warm on a cold,snowy day. Imagining the heat of a jungle. I used the pattern called ' Scratch'. The fern leaves are mimicked and those big cats could make scratches a reality. Good use of pretty bolt fabric. It has a tiger stripe border. A fun quilt.

Look closely at the quilting pattern called Twinkling stars. In gold thread, it really takes it up a notch.

This year, last quilt pick up day will be Dec.13. I will be accepting quilts- until the calendar is full- up until Dec 1. I will resume quilting on March 20, 2026 if the Lord is willing. Business has been brisk all summer and fall so early drop off is highly recommended.
