July came and went without many posts, but not without some incredible days on the water. We shared unforgettable moments, beautiful fish, and the company of some truly great people. Thank you to everyone who trusted me to be part of your time on the river.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been away as I said goodbye to my father. It’s been a difficult season, and I appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and kind messages.

I’m grateful to be back doing what I love. There is something healing about time on the water, and I’m looking forward to getting more smiling anglers in the boat, making memories, and sharing plenty of fish photos again.

See you on the river. Jason Fly Fishing Guide Service

The Lock boys put together a couple pretty special days on Crowley Lake. There’s just something awesome about watching a father-son duo still out there getting after it, sharing laughs, making memories, and sticking fish the whole way through.

Moments like these are what make guiding so rewarding. It’s never just about the fish — it’s about the experience, the stories, and the people you meet along the way.

May continues to absolutely pump out some incredible fishing here in the Eastern Sierra, and my remaining dates are getting limited. If you’ve been thinking about getting out on the water, now’s the time.

Spring is knocking and the countdown is ON. Opening day hits April 25th, and the Eastern Sierra is shaping up to fish incredibly well for early season.

I’ve got a few prime dates still open for that first week — April 27, 28, 29, and 30 — and if you’ve been thinking about getting out on the water, this is your window.

Cold water, active trout, and some of the best conditions we see all year… it doesn’t get much better.

I’m running a special for those dates — DM me now for details and let’s lock in your trip before they’re gone.

One of the best parts of guiding? Watching families actually connect out on the water—not staring at screens, not distracted—just dialed in and having a blast. And yeah… seeing these kids come back year after year turning into legit anglers never gets old.

We’re only a few weeks out from general trout season in the Eastern Sierra. Opening week still has a few spots left, but May and June are filling up fast.

If you’re thinking about it, don’t wait until it’s gone.
DM me or call to lock in your date.

One of the best parts of guiding is seeing family’s return each year. The kids get bigger and become more seasoned as anglers. Watching the enjoyment the entire family gets out of fly fishing is the true gift of guiding.

It’s that time of year 🔥

With these above-average temps, the trout on the Lower Owens are in full-on feeding mode—and the fishing is about as good as it gets right now.

Flows have jumped from ~85 cfs to 185 cfs with the snowpack melting fast, bringing in cool, clean water. Temps are sitting in that perfect 53–56°F range, and the fish are loving it.

Morning sessions are producing strong midge and BWO hatches, with caddis in the mix. Evenings have been just as productive—shorter window, but absolutely worth it.

Wild Fly Anglers is open and booking trips. If you’ve been waiting for the right time—this is it.

Some nice ones to be had on the river. It’s that time of year again where fishing with high temps requires some extra thought and effort, get out early and handle fish with care getting them back in the water asap.

This was not the one that got away. Finally put a “Walter” in the net. Great catch Barbara. Such a picture perfect example to of a brown trout. Conditions are fair on Crowley at the moment. We’ve managed to stay on fish but it hasn’t come easy fishing 26’-30’ in depth. However the big boys are showing themselves. DM for availability. July is filling up fast and should offer some good opportunities for the shallow water game. Saw my first perch fry today.
