Hi Ladies,
We are just 3 days away from our annual trip and I am so excited to be feeling well enough to travel!! I thought I’d better get some last minute details out to you and I apologize for the lateness of this but getting info from my tour operator has been difficult this year…live and learn. See below and let me know if you have questions:
1) Please wear your shirt on the plane and into Cancun. This will help me identify everyone and we will be easy to spot. I will only ask you to wear it one more time and that will be for a group picture during our stay at the resort.
2) Don’t forget your passport!!
3) Documents – I will hand these out at the airport. They really don’t contain anything important until you get to Cancun as they do have transfer vouchers and room confirmations but no room numbers.
4) Re the group air – we cannot print boarding passes ahead to time since they are all on one locator number. You will need your passport to check in at the airport and where you are traveling to (Cancun). I plan to arrive at the airport between 7 and 7:30 which is the latest you should arrive as it may take time to get through customs so leave yourself enough time. 120 minutes prior to departure time is the guideline.
5) All seats have been pre-assigned. I want to apologize in advance as they have not taken into consideration any preferences I have given them. I have never had a window seat and guess what…that is where I ended up. You may or may not be able to get them to change it check-in and you may be able to upgrade if you wish (for a price).
6) The checked luggage fee is $25 each way for United so be prepared.
7) When we get to Cancun, they are supposed to have a large coach so we will all arrive at the resort together. AmStar is our transfer company and they are pretty good. I am hoping they will allow us to wait for the 6 ladies coming in on American which is only ½ hour after us. If not, those ladies need to proceed through customs, go straight through the terminal to the outside where you will find an AmStar rep. Don’t stop inside the terminal. This is mostly timeshare reps that are very pushy so just keep walking until you are outside.
8) We are supposed to have a group cocktail party one evening and they are still working out the details of that. We may not know which evening until we get to the resort.
9) There was some question about the specialty restaurants. These require reservations and we are eligible for 2 reservations during our stay for specialty restaurants in Beach, Colonial and Tropical. The only exception would be the restaurants in the Mayan Mall section.
10) Don’t forget insect repellent and sunscreen. The mosquitoes can be plentiful even in the daytime and the sun is hot. Predicted weather forecast is mid to high 80’s during the day and mid to high 70’s at night. I would also recommend a hat, wrap of some sort for the cool evenings and comfortable shoes. This is a very large resort.
