Reading this from Ride with GPS today, Joe and I felt they completely captured our personal sentiments about cycling.

Why Bikes?

No one asks that question. They ask "Why not running? Why not hiking?". We believe bikes are special. Slow enough to take in the world. Fast enough to explore. Quiet enough to hear the sounds of nature, the voices of friends, the occasional pounding of your heart. Easy enough to laugh. Hard enough to train your body, test your mind, and earn moments of pride. It's a piece of equipment to obsess over, customize, and argue about. It makes commuting, errands, and exercise fun. Bikes are special. And while our software works well for other things, we prefer to spend our days thinking about how we can amplify the magic inherent in bikes.

So happy to have checked this off my bucket list and to have shared the experience with Fern and good friends too!

Our good friends Andrea Gennari and Livio Salvatori of Controvento have crafted a dream cycling tour through Sicily called O’ Sole Mio. Over 11 days, you’ll ride from Castellammare del Golfo to Modica, taking in the island’s dramatic coastlines, peaceful countryside, and unforgettable cuisine.

Bormio, Italy (Dolomites) Bucket List Cycling Trip:

We can say with complete sincerity that we have never had a bad cycling trip. After all, we are out on our bikes, exploring the world with friends who share our passion for discovering new places on two wheels.

But every now and then, something truly special happens. The location, the people, and the atmosphere all come together just right, elevating the experience in a way that is hard to describe. Our trip to Bormio, Italy (Dolomites) was one of those rare and unforgettable journeys.

A heartfelt thank you to our phenomenal guides Livio, Micol, and Roberto for shepherding us through cycling heaven. To Beppe and Chiara at Hotel Alù Mountain Design Bormio, thank you for the warm hospitality and the perfect setting to unwind after each ride. And to the wonderful group who joined us, we are so grateful to call you friends. You brought special meaning to every pedal stroke and every hiking step. Our hearts are completely full.

What a special week at Dory Bike Riccione. While the week started off a little rough for Fern and me with several delayed flights and lost luggage (4 days), it developed into a spectacular cycling week nonetheless. When you are surrounded by family, friends, and the outstanding staff at Hotel Dory Riccione, it all works out. Add in a birthday celebration for Fern, and wonderful things unfold.
