Speaking with Dru about what allowed her business to thrive, her answer was simple; long hours, many sacrifices and the internet. She then elaborated ... “When Jet Link began, the internet was not very prevalent. It took a lot of man hours to research and quote an aircraft. As the internet advanced and cell phones became smart phones, Jet Link was able to flourish and give individualized service to its clients with the help and speed that modern technology provided. At first, many brokers such as myself, were afraid that the internet would replace our services. Fortunately, it enhanced our services. It enabled us to provide vital information and receive up to date facts about operators around the world and receive competitive pricing.”

Looking back, 20 years after it all began; it is easy to smile upon all the great successes. However, the owner of Jet Link also looks back on all the struggles and still grins. Dru Kitchen’s only real income, in the beginning, was from her waiting tables. Using credit cards to pay her bills and other credit cards to pay off those credit cards made cash flow quite the task. She reflects back; “It took a few years to get the ability to charge a client’s card. My first card that I could charge was an American Express; I had to work with a broker to prove my credit & I had to back up all my transactions with a personal guarantee. That was quite overwhelming for a 27-year-old, but I did it and it certainly paid off.”
Having little cash flow and zero staff, being in the ‘on demand’ charter industry proved to be a struggle. She bought into services for assistance with aircraft search and posting “haves & needs” for empty legs. And like all business owners in the 90’s Dru was always within reach of her pager making her available 24/7. Being constantly available to clients helped put Jet Link on the map and is still a pillar of its operations.
