The Manitou Springs Fire Department (MSFD) is aware that residents and visitors may be noticing visible smoke in the area today. MSFD assures the community that there are no active wildfires within the City of Manitou Springs.

The smoke is the result of multiple large wildfires currently burning in southern Colorado. Strong southerly wind patterns are carrying smoke into the Pikes Peak region, creating hazy conditions and a noticeable smell of smoke at times.

While these conditions can reduce air quality, they are not a sign of an immediate fire threat within city limits. MSFD and regional partners are monitoring the situation closely and remain ready to respond to any local incidents.
