This video was captured right before we celebrated the completion of two new charity homes in Vietnam… a moment filled with anticipation, pride, and deep gratitude.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of Kirsten Hoang and John Nguyen from Houston, Texas. Because of them, two families now have more than just shelter — they have stability, dignity, and a place to build their future.

And what makes this even more meaningful is how it all came together — through the hands of YMCA Global Engagement volunteers who traveled across the world to serve, connect, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

Kirsten and John — thank you for leading with generosity and heart. Your impact will be felt for generations.

This is what it means to travel with purpose.

Strength is often quiet. It shows up in people like Trương Văn Hải.

After facing more challenges than most of us can imagine, Hải is stepping into a new chapter as a single father, raising his two daughters with courage, love, and determination.

Thanks to the hands and hearts of YMCA Global Engagement trip volunteers in Vietnam, a new home has been built for his family — not just walls and a roof, but a place of stability, safety, and fresh beginnings.

This is what the YMCA is all about. People showing up for one another across cultures and continents. Turning compassion into action, and action into lasting impact.

Hải’s journey isn’t easy. But today, it’s stronger.

And so is his future.

During our Kenya trip, we had the privilege of meeting Vivian Thairu from the Mombasa YMCA—and we’re incredibly proud to share that she earned 3rd place at her regional speaking competition!

Our YMCA was honored to support her journey by covering the cost of her conference, and seeing her succeed on that stage is a powerful reminder of what happens when we invest in young leaders.

We miss our Kenya crew and the incredible connections made along the way. Vivian, you inspire us—keep going. The future is bright.
