Just 60 miles southwest of Tokyo, Mount Fuji is an iconic symbol of Japan and the country’s tallest peak. This active volcano has been a pilgrimage site for centuries and is considered one of Japan’s three sacred mountains.

This UNESCO site is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Summiting this mountain is relatively easy, and multiple trails take visitors to the top. There you can see the summit crater and be treated to sweeping views of the surrounding park.

Have you ever been to the Center of the World? Yes, it’s a real place.

Well, at least it used to be.And the ever-developing world is slowly losing the sacredness of places that used to be.

Ancient Greece is still one of the few places where you can truly walk among history, seeing first-hand so many of the roots of modern civilization (and the origin stories of so many movies and books). And while there are resorts and modern wonders to visit, walking in ancient places has a way of transforming you.

Take a trip to Ancient Greece and see the Sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena (arguably the most important historical sites in Greece - and that’s saying a lot.) Walk through the complex of Meteora - monasteries literally sitting atop giant rock formations (you’ll want to spend a whole day here, trust us.)
Read (or at least look at) ancient manuscripts and see Byzantine artifacts.

Wildlife…It’s one thing to see photos and videos, or even visit a zoo. It’s a whole different experience in real life.

Look, there are a lot of man-made sights to see in the world, but most of the “world” was already here before we started building stuff. And it was wild. And it still is. And it’s worth seeing with your own eyes. Very few places on the planet let you see the wild up close like Etosha National Park in Namibia, Africa.

Here’s what you’ll see:

✅ Four of the “Big Five” (elephant, rhino, leopard and lion)
✅ Giraffe, cheetah, hyena and gemsbok (of course you know what a gemsbok is, right?)
✅ Approximately 114 mammal species as well as 340 bird species.
✅ The elephants are said to be the biggest in the world.
✅ The Black Rhinos are on the verge of extinction.

The park itself offers stunning views of Africa’s ancient desert ruggedness. And as remote as the park feels, it is surprisingly accessible. Perhaps it’s time you took a trip on the wild side…for real.
