High water has affected us at the St. Clair River House, but not like it has Sanford, Michigan. Seeing their dam burst was heartbreaking, and even more so because we have a personal connection there. Our siblings are part of the Sian family, who have operated Sanford Hardware for decades. They are facing hardships unlike any we can imagine, and need help to rebuild their livelihood. We have received a couple questions on the state of our property with the historically high water on the Great Lakes. We are happy to report that it has only minimally affected us to this point! Seasonally, the level usually declines from now until spring, so hopefully we are seeing the worst the River has in store for us this year. The yard and dock have been fully usable throughout, with the water confined to a couple feet immediately adjacent to the seawall.
