The Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau team joined Yosemite’s annual Apple Picking Day! Every summer, volunteers help harvest apples from historic orchards in Yosemite Valley to reduce temptations for bears. Left on trees, apples can draw bears into campgrounds and parking areas, leading to more dangerous human-bear encounters.

The date of Apple Picking Day changes each year, depending on when the apples ripen. If you're visiting Yosemite in late July or August and want to get involved, reach out to the Volunteer Office to learn more.

There are many ways to get involved. Whether you’re visiting or local, volunteering in Yosemite Mariposa County is a great way to give back. See our link to learn more.

The long-awaited Ferguson Rock Shed project on Highway 140 has just received $387 million in new funding from the State of California!

This major investment will restore full two-lane access through the Ferguson slide area near El Portal by constructing a durable rock shed on the original highway alignment.

Once completed, the temporary one-lane bridges will be removed, improving safety and reliability for local drivers, emergency responders, commercial trucks, cyclists, and visitors traveling to Yosemite.

We recently attended IPW 2025 in Chicago — the largest international travel trade event — to promote lodging and tourism businesses in Mariposa County.

We had 84 meetings with travel trade professionals and 25 meetings with media. With over 5,000 delegates from 60+ countries, IPW is a powerful platform to showcase our region on the global stage.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with top international buyers, build relationships with travel writers, and bring future tourism—and earned media—into our community.
