🚨 Honoring Excellence in Service & Justice 🚨

The City of Markham proudly recognized the dedicated investigators whose swift and collaborative efforts helped bring resolution to a tragic case that deeply impacted our community.

In less than 48 hours, members of the Markham Police Department Investigations Division, alongside the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, worked tirelessly to identify and apprehend a suspect in the March 2025 double homicide of Diamond Taylor-Harvey (27) and Jamari Stigler (23).

Their commitment, coordination, and partnership with local businesses and residents were instrumental in delivering answers and a measure of justice for the victims’ families.

📍 During Wednesday evening’s ceremony at Markham City Hall, special recognition was given to Detective Joseph Crement and Detective Sergeant Jeff York, along with all investigators involved in this case.

🗣️ “Their work was nothing short of remarkable,” said city leadership, highlighting the speed, professionalism, and teamwork that led to charges being approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

While this case was heartbreaking, it stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement and community come together.

🙏 Our thoughts remain with the families of Diamond Taylor-Harvey and Jamari Stigler.
💙 And our gratitude goes out to those who serve and protect our city every day.
