You don’t need to know anyone before you come. A lot of our guests don’t.

Not every beautiful dive destination is a good trip for you

I have told people before, “I don’t think this is the trip for you.” And I am okay with that.

Some amazing trips have long travel days, early mornings, strong currents, small boats, basic accommodations, or a lot of group time. You can love the pictures and not enjoy the actual experience.

When I plan an MHT trip, I think about what the days are really going to feel like.

Is this a good place for a newer diver? Do you need to be pretty independent? Are you going to be tired after getting there? Is there downtime? Is this a very social trip? How comfortable do you need to be in current?

Those things are just as important to me as how beautiful the diving is.

I would much rather help you choose the right trip than sell you the wrong one.

Before you book because the pictures look amazing, ask yourself:

Would I actually enjoy what it takes to experience this place?

If getting the photo means chasing the animal, I don’t want the photo.

Wild animals do not owe us a close encounter because we paid for a dive trip.

The ocean gives us what it gives us that day. Sometimes can be incredible. Sometimes the animal stays far away. Sometimes the thing you traveled across the world hoping to see does not show up at all.

That is wildlife.

We do not need to chase it, touch it, feed it, surround it, or make it uncomfortable so we can come home with the photo.

This is also something we look at when choosing dive operators for MHT.

How do they treat the reef? Do they give animals space? Will a guide correct a diver who is touching something? Do they respect the people and communities around them?

Those things matter when we decide who gets our business.

And I think they should matter when you travel on your own too.

Before your next dive trip, ask the operator how they handle wildlife encounters.

You are spending your money with them. You are allowed to know what you are supporting.

This is how we want to travel at MHT, and we want more divers asking these questions too.

There was a moment in Socorro when a giant manta and two dolphins slowed down and stayed with me. They were curious.

You stay calm in the blue water, and this enormous animal decides to swim alongside you. This is why divers talk about The Boiler and Roca Partida for years.

Giant mantas, schools of hammerheads and curious dolphins… this place is very special. 💙

Socorro is remote. It takes around 26–28 hours by boat to reach the islands. We will have six diving days with up to 21 dives.

We go twice a year because I never get tired of this place!

This trip is for Advanced Open Water divers with 50+ dives who feel comfortable in blue water and changing currents.

Our coed trip is October 30–November 8, 2027, and we currently have five spaces available. We love going at the beginning of the season because the water is warmer.

A little late to the recap… but this one deserved a permanent spot on the feed 🩷🌊

Back in April, we celebrated 5 years of MHT the best way we know how, together, underwater, at the one and only Seaventures Dive Rig in Borneo.

A week of diving, ridiculous marine life, new friendships, old friends, a lot of laughs and a pretty special milestone for this community.

And clearly we loved it… because we’re going back every year. 🤿
