Alaska cruise tip #4 🏔️🚢

Consider selecting an itinerary with a longer stop in Victoria, B.C.! This was my biggest regret. We were docked from 7pm-11:30pm and it was already dark out when we got off the boat. If we had gone during the middle of summer this would have been fine, but truthfully I could have spent an entire day there. It was BEAUTIFUL! We didn’t make it past the wharf sadly but even that was so charming with all the little houseboats! Including some stock images so you can see why I was bummed!

What to pack? Well, in Alaska it’s all about layers. So pack a variety of things you can mix/match.

My biggest packing tips are to bring…

1. A proper WATERPROOF (not water resistant) rain jacket. 🧥 It rains 360 days a year at some of these ports and you do not want to be drenched!

2. Binoculars! 🐋 Whether you book a whale watching tour or not, you’ll want them! From our ship we saw eagles, humpback whales, and orcas! Binoculars are great to have. We brought them on our whale watching tour and were glad we did! We got to see them bubble net feeding up close.

ALWAYS get insurance! This goes for any type of travel. You just don’t know what will happen. Lost luggage, sickness, injury, travel disruptions…I’ve seen it ALL and now have even experienced it. 🤪

On our first full day I got severely dehydrated due to nausea (still not sure what happened but I have weird health problems). I ended up needing iv fluid and let me tell you, that bill was HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of dollars. But because of travel insurance, it wasn’t a problem. The medical staff were excellent.

Also, if you’re not super sick, skip going to medical because if they think there’s even an ounce of a chance you have anything contagious they will make you stay in your room. 😵‍💫 Hence the balcony tip from yesterday. 🤪

Book the balcony! If you can swing it, it’s so worth it. During the glacier viewing day this is the absolute BEST spot to see the sights. Plus, imagine waking up to these views right outside your door…sipping coffee in your pjs. 😌☕️

Also, if you get quarantined to your room, it will definitely be worth its weight in gold! More on that tomorrow! 😉

Alaska was INCREDIBLE! 🏔️🚢

This was my first time sailing with Princess, and let me tell you…it was a 10/10 experience! I completely understand why Princess is THE choice for Alaska cruises. And after experiencing it firsthand, I honestly think they’d be a top contender for just about any destination. I’ll be able to speak to this next month after my next cruise with them!

I’m already a certified Princess Alaska Expert, but there’s nothing quite like experiencing a destination and cruise line for yourself. First of all, the pictures are nothing like seeing it in person. I also learned SO much on this trip, and over this week I’ll be sharing some of my best tips for planning the ultimate Alaska cruise…from what to pack and which excursions are worth it to the little things I wish I’d known before going.

🏔️ It’s official! I’m a Princess® Alaska Expert! 🎓

Princess is the #1 cruise line in Alaska, voted Best Cruise Line in Alaska by Travel Weekly readers 22 times! 🏆

I’ve officially completed the Princess Alaska Expert Program, adding even more destination specific training to help my choose the right itinerary, understand the ports, plan excursions, and make the most of this incredible bucket list destination.

And the timing couldn’t be better… I’ll be putting that training into practice when I sail Alaska with Princess myself very soon! 🏔️

Ok fellow Walt Disney World nerds…which D23 announcement are you most excited about? 🤓🥳

🚗 Piston Peak is coming to Magic Kingdom! The new Cars-inspired expansion will bring guests into a larger-than-life world inspired by Pixar Animation Studios’ Cars, complete with new attractions and immersive storytelling.

🦹‍♀️ Villains Land just got even more wicked! New details were shared about this massive expansion, which will feature two major attractions, dining, shopping and immersive environments inspired by some of Disney’s most iconic villains. The land will be comparable in scale and immersion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

🌎 Exciting updates were revealed for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Including new details about the upcoming Encanto attraction, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and plans to bring the legendary Expedition Everest Yeti back to life.

👾 Monstropolis continues to take shape Fans got a new look at the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc.-inspired expansion with the land including Harryhausen’s restaurant and the “Welcome to Monstropolis” show opening in 2027! The door coaster attraction will open in a second phase at a later date.

💜 Dreamfinder is returning to EPCOT! One of the loudest cheers of the night came when Disney announced Dreamfinder will return alongside Figment in a reimagined Journey Into Imagination attraction.

🎠 Carousel of Progress is getting an update as the beloved Disney classic will receive new scenes and storytelling elements while honoring its iconic legacy when it opens in late spring 2027.
