“You see that boy of mine? Though but five, he governs the universe. Yes, for he rules his mother, his mother rules me, I rule Athens, and Athens the world.” – Themistocles
Mothers are often seen as the first mirror a child looks into, reflecting back their initial self-perception and shaping their sense of identity. The mother-child bond is crucial in the development of attachment, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
Some philosophers, like Martin Heidegger, have even suggested that our birth into this world can be viewed as a "throwing" into our lives, with mothers playing a key role in guiding us through the initial uncertainties.
You can be a Mother of a pet. You can be a Mother to society (like Mother Teresa). You can even have an animal be a Mother to a human (Tarzan?).
If a powerful man loves his family, his power is tied to their interests (the family). As Themistocles explains, women and children often direct the lives of powerful men.
