When we pulled into the Meteor Crater parking lot near winslow, AZ we had no idea what the real reason we were there was.

Then this cool blue bus pulled in carrying Preston, Carla & their boy. What a divine appointment!

So happy we got to meet you all! See ya down the road!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled west coast programming to share a peak from our time at Skoolie Swarm 2026. We absolutely love the van life/nomad gathering season here in Florida. When you live on the road, the community you have becomes extra important. So, thank you Skoolie Swarm for a much-needed long weekend to slow down and relax with our friends in the nomadic community, make new friends, dance, laugh, play games, and make memories. It was also kitty approved! 🐈‍⬛ ❤🚐🚌🚙🚕 Next, we'll be heading to Peace Love Vans! Once we finish up sharing our 2025 trip around the country, we'll share more from these amazing events.

In 2020, we bought an empty 2019 Ford Transit cargo van and spent the next 2.5 years working to convert the van into a tiny home on wheels while also traveling whenever we could. Nomadic gatherings are really special for us. For those of us who travel full time, we’re often by ourselves. This kind of event gives us neighbors for a short moment in time and provides a great opportunity to relax and spend time with our fellow nomad friends. The 8th annual Skoolie Swarm in Melrose, Florida was our 2nd gathering of the winter. We failed to get many photos. I guess we were too busy relaxing and socializing! But, we made lasting memories and had lots of laughs. If you are wondering why Steve and Bill look the way they do in these photos, watch our video to see the circus we encountered as soon as we arrived at the event!

🐝 Skoolie Swarm is a week long off-grid gathering of nomads in Central Florida that celebrates the nomadic and traveling lifestyle. The majority of attendees are individuals, couples, and families who travel and live in converted school buses. But the Skoolie Swarm motto is to “widen the circle” so that means there are also converted vans and other kinds of rigs as well as people tent and car camping! The gathering includes special events and activities such as a bonfire night, workshops, potluck meals, wine night, karaoke, live music performances, zip lining, kickball games, a pie eating contest, prom, and other fun!

We've been sharing highlights from what we call our winter van life gathering season in Florida. Each gathering we attend is unique in its own way. Skoolie Swarm is the most like a vacation for us. It's like summer camp for adults! It's a 10-day gathering in Melrose, Florida where nomads and travelers in skoolies, box trucks, vans, RVs, campers, cars, or other rigs gather in the woods and along the lake for community and fun.

Things we love about the Skoolie Swarm setting and schedule:

Our favorite activity at Skoolie Swarm: THE DANCE!!! 🕺💃🏻 In the past years we've attended Swarm, there has been a prom night. This year, the dance was a hoe down! 🤠👢 We worked on our line dancing moves, put on our plaid, and had fun dancing into the night!!! What a great time with the nomad community making lots and lots of memories and sharing lots and lots of laughs!!!

Day 8. Started at an awesome Boondockers Welcome. Saw the Missouri Institute of Natural Science and Wilson's creek battlefield before heading to the 1st Bass Pro Shop to meet back up with Bruce & Linda.

Day 7 We was a bit rainy to start. Saw the world's 2nd largest rocking chair. (Casey, IL has the largest). Drove over Devil's elbow bridge. And stopped in Uranus Fudge Factory ended the day at an awesome Boondockers Welcome spot.
