I wish I could show you absolutely everything that Memphis has to offer… but there’s just never enough time. One of the spots that’s not on the tour but only a few steps away from the Peabody Hotel is one of my personal favorites!

At 152 Madison Avenue, The Brass Door is as authentic an Irish Pub as you will find anywhere near downtown. And everything is worth trying! I’ve come to love an Irish Old Fashioned but the bar is stocked with whatever your thirsty heart desires. And nothing is better for brunch than the Eggs Galway or the Reuben Eggrolls and the Sausage Rolls melt in your mouth. Their traditional Fish and Chips are wonderful but you’ve got to try the Shrinp Maxine or Grilled Salmon for dinner. And for dessert… if Bread Pudding is ever on the menu, I’ll always make room. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

This is one of the many, many things I love about Memphis… if you want it, you can find it here; including, a traditional Irish Pub just a few blocks away from the Mississippi River.

Bog and Barley has been open for a couple months now and we “just happened” to be in the neighborhood around lunch time!

As soon as you walk in the doors you are immediately transported to Ireland. I mean, all the building materials were shipped in from the homeland after all!!

Jay, our server, was fantastic and his suggestions were on point! There was no doubt that Scotch eggs would be the appetizer, but there are so many incredible entree options. They’ve got the traditional Irish faire of Fish & Chips, Bangers and Mash, and Shepherds Pie. But the other selections looked amazingly appealing.

Karen decided on the newly added Panned Roasted Trout Filet and I went with the Newman Farm Pork Porterhouse that Jay said had a “Cider glaze I could put in a cup and drink straight”. Enough said!!! The trout was amazingly light and the pork was incredible! And he was soooo right on the glaze!! A side of Crispy Brussels Sprouts rounded out the meal and we knew we would be back often!!

Chef Reny and his kitchen crew and the entire staff at Bog and Barley are top notch and I highly recommend one of Memphis’ newest culinary amazements!!

During my time at the Peabody Hotel, I met more actors, politicians, sports icons, and musicians than I can even remember! This Rock N Roll icon was one of the most down to earth, genuine human beings you would ever want to meet. And the great thing is, he is STILL doing his thing!! Including this year at the Beale Street Music Festival!!

If you haven’t seen the lineup yet, check the next slide and tell me who you are most excited to see perform this year!! And make plans to be in Memphis May 5-7!!!

I finally got the chance to check out the new Ibis on Main St. So happy I stopped in for brunch!!

The steak and eggs was fantastic and the Cinnamon Roll Tiramisu 🤤 (IYKYK). I can’t wait to try some of the other items on the menu like the Peach Cobbler French Toast and the breakfast casserole. They also have a Build Your Own Bowl with either Hash Browns or Grits as the base.

Brad, one of the friendliest bartenders you would EVER want to meet, made a very clean and tasty Old Fashioned with locally distilled Old Dominick bourbon. He also makes a mean little Tequila shot!!

Got a moment to speak with Jake, the head chef, and his ideas for menu items sound amazing. Not a lot of chefs ask for and appreciate feedback, so I was happy to give my two cents.

Their dinner menu has so much I want to try and I can’t wait to get back. But for now I will give Restaurant Ibis downtown a very high brunch recommendation.
