UPDATE: The fire dept has determined the fire was arson. Rev Brewster’s granddaughter told the news that they had plans to store and renovate the bldg. What a travesty to have lost this historic building!

The historic East Trigg Baptist Church burned Friday night. This is where Elvis would come to listen to Herbert Brewster’s nationally acclaimed choir. Rev Brewster wrote most of the songs they sang. This place was one of many musical influences on Elvis’ music.

UPDATE - If you want to stand on the stage, do a Memphis tour with me. I include a backstage tour of the shell and then you are allowed on the stage for a photo opportunity.

What a shame!! Major Bummer!! You can no longer stand on the stage as of last week. That’s because some idiot fell off the stage.
