Big things brewing at Soul & Spirits! 🍻 Today, the DMC’s CCDC Board approved an Exterior Improvement Grant to help create an outdoor beer garden, patio, playground, dog park, and more - complete with new lighting, fencing, and shade. Cheers to even more good times in the Uptown neighborhood!

So, what do you do on a Friday night and you don't have a tour? Pop open one of your homebrews you have been waiting to try. It's not bad at all, probably the second best I have made.

Beer IS important for critical thinking

Niels Bohr was gifted a house with free beer for life after he won the 1922 Nobel Prize in Physics.

He moved into the residence, which was located right next to the Carlsberg brewery in Copenhagen. A direct beer pipeline was connected from the brewery to his home, essentially giving him free beer for life. He lived there for the rest of his life, until his passing in 1962.

I figured his life peaked after he received the Nobel Prize, but the man never slowed down, even with his unlimited supply of beer. In the 1930s he refined his principle of complementarity, deepening the foundations of quantum theory. By 1936 he introduced the liquid drop model of the nucleus, and in 1939, together with John A. Wheeler, he developed the theory of nuclear fission, explaining how uranium could split and release immense energy.

During WW2, from 1943 to 1945, Bohr worked with the Manhattan Project, offering insights on chain reactions while urging leaders to pursue postwar openness in nuclear science. After the war he became a strong advocate for the peaceful use of atomic energy and international cooperation, playing a key role in the founding of CERN in 1954. His efforts earned him the Atoms for Peace Award in 1957, and he remained a leading figure in science and diplomacy until his passing in 1962.
