Are you REAL ID ready?

Per the U.S. Department of State- Beginning May 07, 2025, U.S. travelers will need to present a REAL ID compliant license/ID for air travel within the United States.

Temple of Hathor- Dedicated to the Goddess Hathor (cow goddess representing motherhood, fertility, childbirth). This temple quickly became one of my favorites. It is one of the most beautiful and best preserved temples. The colorful and intricate blue ceiling shares astronomical scenes and the beautiful goddess Nut. The back wall of the temple shows an image of Cleopatra and her son Caesarean. The Dendera Zodiac was removed from the ceiling of one of the temple ceilings and now is shown in the Louvre museum in Paris, despite Egypt asking for its return. There is a replica on the same ceiling today in its place.

Luxor Temple is approx 3km from Karnak Temple and is connected by the Avenue of the Sphinxes. This sacred path was used during religious ceremonies like the Opet Festival. There are over one thousand Sphinxes lining the avenue. Statue of Tutankhamun and his wife Ankhesenamun are located at Luxor Temple. The capitals on the columns resemble open and closed lotus flowers. It was ethereal feel being there at sunset. If I had more time, I would’ve walked the avenue as far as I could. Maybe next time.
