After graduating with a degree in Travel & Hospitality Management, Mariah worked briefly booking travel for doctors for a corporate office before deciding to become a stay-at-home mom. During that time we still felt passionate about travel and took as many trips and created as many memories as we could with our 4 children and many times with our extended family. We also helped plan many trips over the years for friends and family. Recently we became empty-nesters, and while re-evaluating our life goals we decided it was time to re-explore the idea of planning travel for a living again...and Whisked Away Travel was born. Almost 15 years ago, we took a family vacation to Savannah, Georgia. It was the week of the 4th of July, and we had an amazing time—relaxing at the beach, taking different tours, strolling along the riverfront, trying new restaurants, and of course, enjoying the fireworks. 🇺🇸✨

But there was one night our family remembers the most.

After a long day of exploring, we decided to stay in for dinner and games. The evening started as we looked out the big picture window of our second-story apartment onto the main shopping street below. As we people-watched, we began pretending to read lips and make up conversations for passersby—and we laughed nonstop. 😂

Next came card games… with a twist. I became the “sports announcer” for the night, calling every play, interviewing the “losers,” and dramatically crowning the champion. The laughter just kept going! 🃏🎤

The night was filled with simple moments, but so much joy that none of us have ever forgotten it.

To this day, we still talk about that trip as one of our favorite family vacations. 💛

Growing up, we always dreamed of taking vacations—but only to places close to home. Trips to places like Hawaii or Europe felt out of reach.
