The challenge features local business, restaurants and individuals competing to win their salsa category! Arizona Bleeding Disorders is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with inherited bleeding disorders through advocacy, education, connection and support.

NEW EVENT, NEW BRAND!

And what better way to premiere our new brand then on the first day of National Salsa Month! 🍅

We are excited to release our new branding and webpage for the event, while highlighting the organization that has benefitted and put on the Salsa Challenge for over 35 years.

Did you know that the Salsa Challenge is a fundraiser benefitting the bleeding disorder community in Arizona?

Here's some history...Arizona Bleeding Disorders (back then the Hemophilia Association) started the Salsa Challenge as one of their main fundraisers back in 1985 in the parking lot of a high school.

Over the years it turned into one of the hottest (pun intended) culinary festivals in the valley bringing in over 50 contestants and 150 salsas, adding in a Margarita Mix Off and truly being a the must go to event of the season.

Being a fundraiser has always been the main goal of the Salsa Challenge while also bringing the community together. In the past 5 years we have seen a lot of changes in the event world and definitely had to make some hard decisions.

However, we are looking forward to starting back up at a smaller scale to really make this a meaningful event to the community and a successful fundraiser in support of the bleeding disorder community in Arizona.

The rumors are TRUE - SALSA CHALLENGE IS BACK!

We are bringing back the Salsa Challenge in a brand new way.

October 11th, 2025 in Downtown Phoenix.

The reinvented Salsa Challenge is a one-day culinary event that will host 500 to 1,000 attendees , attracting individuals 21 and older who want to enjoy an evening filled with live music, salsa tasting and a margarita mix off. The event features over 20 contestants showing off their hot and mild salsas – comprised of individuals and businesses.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the discontinuation of the Annual Salsa Challenge Event hosted by Arizona Bleeding Disorders. After much deliberation and careful consideration, we have come to the difficult decision to conclude this beloved event.

The Annual Salsa Challenge has been a cherished tradition within our community for many years, and we are immensely grateful for the unwavering support it has received from our dedicated participants, sponsors, volunteers, and the community at large. This event has not only brought people together for a day of fun and flavor but has also played a vital role in raising funds for our organization's mission to support those affected by bleeding disorders in Arizona.

Over the years, the Annual Salsa Challenge has grown in scale and complexity, and with that growth came increased financial demands. Unfortunately, the cost of hosting such a large-scale event has surpassed what a small local nonprofit like ours is able to invest in a fundraiser. We have reached a point where the financial burden associated with organizing this event is no longer sustainable for our organization.

While we are sad to close this chapter in our organization's history, we firmly believe that this decision is necessary for the long-term sustainability of Arizona Bleeding Disorders. Our primary commitment is to continue providing vital services, support, and programming for the Arizona Bleeding Disorder Community. This decision will allow us to allocate resources more effectively toward these essential programs and services.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of the Annual Salsa Challenge journey. Your contributions, enthusiasm, and dedication have made a significant impact on our organization and the bleeding disorder community. We look forward to your continued support as we embark on this new chapter and work together to build a brighter future.
