How to plan a multi-generation family cruise without anyone crying by day 3. Real answer, from too much practice: 1. Pick a ship with a genuine kids' club AND a genuine adult-only zone (Royal's Adventure Ocean + Solarium; NCL's Splash Academy + Vibe Beach Club). This is the whole game. 2. Book connecting balconies or a suite with a pull-out; don't stack 3 generations in one cabin unless you enjoy resentment. 3. Give grandparents a spa day, mid-cruise, non-negotiable. It resets the entire trip. 4. Book ONE excursion that everyone does together and let the other port days be freeform. Forced togetherness on 4 excursions kills morale.
