Morocco Magical fusion Itinerary
Sample itnerary
Day 1: Arrival, transfer, Dinner.
Day 2: Old and new city tour Marrakech, cooking class.
Day 3: Souk Tour, Lunch, Djemaa el fna square tour.
Day 4: Day trip to the Atlas mountains, lunch, dinner.
Day 5: Cooking class, Majorel gardens
Day 6: Day trip to the coast - Esaouira, fish lunch, dinner.
Day 1: Transfer from the airport according to your arrival. Unpack and explore the grounds of your home for the week, the beautiful Moroccan riad. (Traditional Moroccan house with an interior courtyard)
In the evening we will gather for our first authentic Moroccan dinner.
Day 2: Wake up to a sunny day in the pink city. Have your breakfast on the terrace: espresso, tea, home made yogurt, fresh baked croissants and bread, jams and honey.
This morning we will start discovering Marrakech. we will tour the city outside the walls, the part which the French started building when they ruled Marrakech. Next we will tour old city and the Palaces with amazing decorations carved by hand. we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon we will have a one in a life time opportunity to learn first -hand how to cook real Moroccan food. Being at the cross roads of many civilizations the cuisine of Morocco is a fusion of arab, berber, Moorish, French, Middle eastern, Iberian and Jewish influences. it is simply GOOD! Today we will make Tagine, a slow-cooked stew braised at low temperature with fruite and spices in a heavy clay pot resulting in a tender meat with aromatic sauce. we will learn how to cook Moroccan salads. You'll see how easy it's going to entertaining and impressing your friends at home.
After joyful dinner we will return to the hotel for the night.
Day 3: After a healthy breakfast we will be heading out of our Riad and dive into the souk of Marrakech( market) as part of the cultural experience. An endless network of tortuous covered alleyways. The stalls are infinite, stretching out along the labyrinth creating a true maze. Hundreds of merchants jeer at you as you pass by, calling to you to inspect their merchandise, which ranges from rainbow assorted babouche slippers, towering heaps of spices, heaps Berber and nomad jewelery, little cedar boxes, pashmina scarves and endless miles of textiles, assorted silver teapots, rugs, kaftans and carpet rugs.
Lunch at the hotel and time to relax. You may want to take advantage of the Hammam. This is a Moroccan steam room where you get a scrub, a musk with natural oils and minerals, a foot bath with flower petals or a massage.
In the early evening we will walk to the very famous djemaa el Fna square with acrobats, henna artists, snake charmers, basket weaves, water sellers in colorful costumes, traditional dancers, musicians and more. when the sun goes down food stalls spring spring up across Djemaa El fna turning it into a massive shared open dining experience.
Dinner.
Day 4: This morning we depart for an adventure in the atlas mountains. we will start traveling to ourika valley via berber villages noticing beautifull landscape. the ourika valley is one of the richest in Marocco with water running, green trees and flowers, blooming bushes and magnificant waterfalls. We will walk leisurely to see the waterfall and to fully appreciate the scenary. We will be rewarded by lunch in one of the villages.
In the late afternoon we will drive back to Marrakech. On the way back we will still be able to enjoy the calming views of the atlas mountains.
Dinner in Marrakech.
Day 5: After breakfast we will have our second Moroccan cooking class followed by lunch. we may learn to make couscous from scratch or make another great dish for entertaining: Pastilla. this is a fillo dough filled with chicken. It's like a sweet and salty crisp pie with spices and grounds almonds, cinnamon and sugar.
The afternoon is free for you to wonder, buy souvenirs or if you wish we can visit Majorel gardens the twelve acre botanical artistic garden, one of the most visited sites in Marrakech.
We will have dinner together.
Day 6: Today we will be heading to the coast, to the seaside town of Essaouira. On the way to Essaouira we will will stop at an Argan oil cooperative to see how women make Argan oil and cosmetics from the Argan nut. Argan oil is Morocco’s beauty secret, know as “liquid gold.” It has extremely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which makes it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature aging caused by oxidation. As we will reach Essaouira, you will notice the stunning views of the Portuguese ramparts. We'll explore the harbor and town and have lunch at a fish grill café. you will have time to stroll in the Medina to watch craftsmen at work.
Dinner will be waiting for us at our hotel when we get back in the evening. ye..
Day 7: Extend you stay or depart home. if you have to leave you will be transfered to the airport according to your flight. if you wish to stay one more day to relax, shop or have another cooking class we would love to offer it at a low cost. just ask!
