Take the trip. Book the cruise. Make the memories. Pull them from school for a few days if you can.

Because one day, the lunchboxes, bedtime stories, little handprints, and “Mom/Dad watch this!” moments become memories instead of routines. We only get about 18 short years with our kids before they start building lives of their own, and when I look back years from now, I know I won’t regret the extra worksheet or missed spelling test… but I would regret missing the chance to experience the world with them.

They’ll remember the late-night ice cream on the ship, the excitement of the airport, swimming until sunset, laughing in tiny hotel rooms, and waking up somewhere new far more than a random week in class. Travel teaches things no classroom can — confidence, adventure, family time, flexibility, culture, and how important it is to enjoy life while we can.

School is important. So is being present for your children while they still want to hold your hand, sit next to you, and make memories with you. Balance matters. Life matters too.

So if you’re debating the trip… take it. The assignments will still be there. Childhood won’t. ❤️
