Don't let the small flowers fool you—the Corkystem Passionflower (Passiflora suberosa) is a local hero! This native vine is a "nursery" for the Zebra Longwing (our state butterfly!). The flowers are super intricate and unique if you take a second to look closely.

Are you more of a "big and bright" flower person, or do you like the tiny, hidden details?

The high-society warbler! The Yellow-throated Warbler is an elegant bird, usually found hanging out in the heights of oak trees and palm fronds. With their bright yellow throats and crisp grey backs, they are a true South Florida staple.

Look up! Which tree in your neighborhood is a favorite for the Yellow-throated Warbler?

You can’t beat a classic! The Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) is our Friday Flower, bringing those iconic golden-yellow petals and dark centers to the party. They’re cheerful, hardy, and remind us exactly why Florida sunshine feels so good.

Does this flower remind you of any specific childhood memories or garden trips?

Meet the "Bandit of the Marsh!" The male Common Yellowthroat wears a distinct black mask and loves to hide in wet thickets. You’ll usually hear their "wichity-wichity-wichity" call before you see them. Visit a wetland trail this week and listen for the "bandit." Audio recordings are welcome in our DMs!
