The choice to back down or turn and head into the seas chasing the fish has to be made by the Captain! How hard, how fast? Is this a tournament? Lots of things dictate how each fish is handled.
I DO know first hand though the possibility of filling your salon and or staterooms with water has to be a consideration! No criticism here, just an educated observation
