Everyone loves a charming small town. But that charm doesn’t exist on its own.

It’s built by the people who open the doors every morning, take the risk, create the jobs, sponsor the teams, serve the meals, and keep showing up for their community.

Keeping our small towns strong means supporting the people who do business here. The shops. The restaurants. The tradespeople. The makers. The service providers.

If you love small towns, support small businesses.

Shop local. Eat local. Hire local. Support local.

You’re not sad… you just need a little Middlesex County.

Every oyster you slurp.
Every stroll down Main Street.
Every back road and water view.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and suddenly you forgot why you were sad.

kinda chic to say yes to the girls weekend…

Pack the tote, split the rental, hand somebody else the aux.

Middlesex is the kind of quiet chic that looks good in and out of the group text: sunset pontoon rides, oysters shucked at the water, a patio dinner where nobody’s watching the clock, a main street where you actually want to shop, and a sandbar that pretty much doubles as a group photo.

No itinerary required. Just good people, a little fresh air, and the kind of weekend that lives in the camera roll for months.

Save this for the next time the group chat says “we should really do a trip.”

Bonus, kinda chic move: plan your fall weekend around the Urbanna Oyster Festival, November 6 and 7, and grab VIP tickets while they last. they sold out both days last year. urbannaoysterfestival.com 🦪

Cruising the Chesapeake Bay?

Turn up the Rappahannock and head to Urbanna Creek. Your third stop on the Middlesex side of Virginia’s River Realm Loop, and the most walkable one.

Tie up at URBBY Marina and explore the Town of Urbanna. The whole town is a short walk from the dock: boutiques, local events, provisions, and 350 years of history.

Swipe to plan your trip and save this post for your next cruise on the Bay!

Virginia is for Oyster Lovers and Middlesex County is the place to become one.

Today is National Oyster Day! And if Virginia has an unofficial oyster capital, the history points right here.

Four hundred years of oyster history span our county, and we’re still at it.

There’s no better place to experience Virginia oysters than right here, whether you’re dining at one of our waterfront restaurants, buying direct from our watermen and oyster farmers, or picking up fresh catch from a local seafood retailer.
