Listen…if you’re going to shop while traveling, you need to know how to shop SMART! 🛍️✈️🇮🇹

One thing I love about international travel is discovering that shopping can actually be part of the experience. And when you're shopping in places like Milan, understanding the VAT refund can make a BIG difference in what you ultimately pay.

If you're a U.S. traveler and you purchase eligible goods in Italy, you may be able to reclaim some of the VAT (Value Added Tax) you paid before leaving the EU. Italy's standard VAT rate is 22%, although the actual amount you receive back is less because refund providers may deduct fees.

Here's what you need to know: Your potential refund is tied to your eligible purchase amount, so that designer handbag, beautiful coat, shoes or luxury purchase you've been eyeing can become even more attractive when you factor in the VAT refund.

But there's a catch…

You have to do it correctly!
✔️ Shop at stores that participate in Tax Free Shopping
✔️ Have your passport with you
✔️ Request your Tax Free paperwork at the time of purchase
✔️ Keep your receipts and purchases
✔️ Complete the customs/refund process before leaving the EU

And remember…the refund isn't automatically the full 22%. The refund amount depends on the purchase and the provider's fees.

The Picture vs. The Process

On one of our past group trips to Dubai, our client Keisha had a flying dress photoshoot and the final photo? GORGEOUS! 😍

But let's talk about what you don't see in the finished picture…(see video).
