Back in San Pietro a Magisano, the village of my roots and my home in Italy, for the beautiful celebration of Madonna della Luce.

The festivities begin with the lighting of the spectacular luminarie — a moment filled with emotion, beauty, and community spirit.
This year, for the first time, I’ll be bringing a small group here to experience this tradition and discover the heart of Calabria through its living heritage.

During our visit to Nido di Seta , we will discover Calabria’s ancient silk-making tradition, brought back to life by a cooperative founded by young locals.

From growing mulberry trees to raising silkworms, we will experience the entire process and proudly support an initiative preserving an important part of Calabria’s heritage.

At my home in Calabria, the kitchen has always been a place for sharing. And this time, our guests were gathered around the table too.

Together with Chef Federica Di Lieto , we spent the afternoon making pizza—from preparing the dough to the tomato sauce, fresh basil, and different toppings… all leading up to the best part, when the pizzas finally made it to the table. 🍕🌿

The evening continued just the way we like it: unhurried, with my family, a table full of food, good wine, and plenty of conversation.

Welcoming my guests into my home is a very personal part of my tours. It’s a way for me to share the Calabria I’ve always known—one shaped by food, family, and hospitality, without having to create anything around it.

Maybe that’s exactly why these days always turn out to be some of the best ones.

When Barbara told me her family came from Magisano, I knew we had to make it part of her Made in Calabria experience. 🇮🇹❤️

Magisano is also deeply personal to me — my mother’s hometown and a place where I lived for many years. I brought Barbara into the heart of the village, among my friends, at my cousin bar La Locanda,and with the locals who welcomed her with stories and curiosity.

Thanks to architect Salvatore Tozzo, Barbara was able to retrace her family history, visit the church, and reconnect with the place her ancestors once called home.

For Barbara, it was a return to her roots.
For me, it was a return home. ❤️

Some memories never make it into an itinerary.

In Badolato, an elderly man stopped me while I was walking down the street. He had just picked wild oregano and was cleaning it to give to his family. Then he smiled and asked if I wanted some.

It’s moments like these that fill the pages of our travel journal—the unexpected encounters that remind us what Calabria is really about.
