Hot take: vacations are supposed to be restful, not packed full of activities.
I know I’ve said it and I know many of you have too:
“I need a vacation from my vacation.”
Our everyday lives are already filled with work, appointments, sporting events, school activities, errands, and endless to-do lists. So why do we treat vacations the same way?
Sometimes it feels like we just move our busy lives to a different, more beautiful location.
Don’t get me wrong. I like seeing and doing new things like everyone else, but I refuse to cram them into 18 hour days. I believe vacations should leave room to slow down, reconnect, notice the beauty around us, and simply breathe.
The best vacations leave room for the unexpected coffee shop, the extra hour on the beach, the long dinner conversation, and the moments you never planned for.
