Last week, Visit Midland had the pleasure of visiting the charming lake town of Granbury, Texas. Proudly known as the Celebration Capital of Texas, this special community in the Lone Star State ranks nationally as the Best Historic Small Town in America by USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2025, and 2026.

We enjoyed connecting with the incredible team at Visit Granbury to exchange ideas, insights, and best practices for creating memorable visitor experiences across our Texas communities.

Last week, Visit Midland was honored to attend Tourism Academy 2026 in Jacksonville, Florida, alongside destination leaders from across the country.

The conference provided valuable insight into the future of destination marketing, sports tourism, visitor services, website strategy, AI, advocacy, and sales development.
Key sessions covered topics including:
• Destination discovery with Google
• Modern sales and services strategies
• Sports investment and tourism impact
• Best practices in bidding on sporting events
• AI in destination marketing
