If you haven't visited Midland, Texas, you might have misconceptions about us.
We're so much more than the pump jacks on endless, flat desert skylines beneath our clear blue sky. Those views, though, are the beloved backdrop of our city, and we’ve all grown to love them because they remind us of home.
When the day comes that you have the chance to visit us, we strive to show you why we cherish being known as the Heart of West Texas.
Our beautifully kept downtown, pristine city parks, state-of-the-art sports facilities, bustling restaurants, dozens of kid-friendly stops, and dazzling sunshine define what makes Midland special to visitors.
Above all, though, is this: what people remember most about Midland is the inviting energy and warmth of our residents. Our natural love of hospitality is truly what sets us apart.
Becoming the 80th Travel Texas Tourism-Friendly Community took effort, but supportive stakeholders, city leaders, and dedicated locals who care about Midland are what made it all possible. We thank Midlanders who greet visitors with kindness, share recommendations, and create memories that bring travelers back to the Tall City.
We are tourism-friendly because it’s not just those of us who were born in Midland that care deeply about the city we now call home.
We invite Texans—and especially non-Texans—to stop and stay a while. And when you do, be sure to catch one of our breathtaking sunsets, which you won’t find anywhere else.
