We specialize in teaching new anglers how to approach bass fishing. If you want to learn a new lake, new technique etc. We are a Veteran owned and operated business. We offer half and full day trips, $350 full / $250 half. Our home lake is Joe Pool, and we offer services on most DFW area lakes. Equipment can be provided upon request, we use all high quality equipment. Skeeter FX20 powered by a 250

Yamaha SHO, Lowrance electronics, TFO rods, Lews reels, Vicious fishing line. Give us a call or send an email and lets get you out on the water. We also offer a new boat owner instruction, this includes launching and trailering boat, navigating, electronics, and all safety tips.

We start the month of June off with Aaron from Baton Rouge, he was in town meeting up with friends. Aaron an avid angler jumped right on them, we fished around catching some here and there. The bite was consistent but you had to slow down a little. I even got in on the action with a big bluegill…lol. Great morning fishing and we were done before the heat really ramped up. Aaron said he would be back to fish with us again.

Saturday we had Ryan and his co-worker Joshua, Ryan was gifted the trip by his realtor in Washington St. Fishing was good, this was Joshua’s first time fishing as he just moved here from the Bronx, NY. After we worked on a few mechanics on how the equipment worked Joshua started hooking up, we still need to work on that hookset. But they guys were catching fish and we helped Ryan catch his new PB. The temp started to warm up but the guys said they were gonna tough it out and fish. All in all a great day of fishing and the guys really enjoyed the day out on the water.

Friday we had Bridgett and Brian a local couple that likes to fish. It turned into an instructional trip, once we were finished Brian wanted to learn how to back a trailer. So for an hour up in the parking lot we put in work, good thing I carry road cones in my truck! The fish were biting that day but boy did it warm up quick, I think the summer heat is here to stay. We jumped around the lake catching fish and if they didn’t bite we’d make a move quick. It was a good day of fishing and I think we got a great start to learning how to back a trailer.

Thursday we took a father’s son duo out and it was a blast! We had the pleasure of taking out Diego and Diego jr (DJ) and memories were made.Fishing was fun and a lot was learned. We started out hooking up with several jumping off, once we worked on keeping them from jumping we put them in the boat. While chatting video games came up and DJ lit up like a Christmas tree, I’m told he loves video games. Nothing like seeing a dad take time out of this busy world to take his kid fishing. Greta fun fishing with these two , really enjoyed it.

Wednesday we took out Army Veteran Richard Brown, small world me and Richard were in Hawaii together and probably crossed paths 25yrs ago. Richard a full time rv’er wanted to get a Texas bass, so we definitely worked hard to get that done. The bite was funny, I guess due to some pressure changes and fronts coming in. We then started getting bit then stumbled up on a school and got them fired up, we got our first double up and they were good fish! All in all it was a good trip talking old Army, safe travels in your adventures and see you around Richard.

GTB Outdoors would like to welcome licensed guide Seth Prather to the fleet. Seth runs a Phoenix 921 which is a great comfortable boat. Seth was one of my HS anglers for 4 years and is now a collegiate angler on scholarship to Drury University. Seth is a hotshot with forward facing sonar and other techniques. We will now be running 2 boats, so we can handle any group trip and should always have someone available. Welcome Seth to Team GTB!

On May 16th we took out Metha who was in town for a conference from California. Metha a good angler jumped on the bass pretty quick, we caught some nice solid fish and Metha seemed very pleased. He said he likes to plan a fishing trip on every business trip and he’s had some great fishing destinations. Take a look at the pics, one is of 4 boats that pulled into the creek after Metha stuck a good one. I think their bent rod fish finders were working, what can you do! Been pretty busy and missed a few stories from the month of May. On the 15th we had repeat client John and he treated his buddy Doug to a trip. Doug just retired from a long career and was ready to enjoy time off. We hit Joe pool and had a good time catching bass. Doug stole the show with plenty of fish catches, he had the hot stick. No giants but an enjoyable day of fishing. After the trip John and Doug went to lunch and I was told all Doug could do was talk about how he enjoyed the day. When I hear that I know my job was done. Enjoy retirement Doug and hopefully we see you out on the water again! Thanks for choosing GTB Outdoors.

Every now and then I get to let my hair out and Alex lets his down…lol. Alex is one of my graduate HS anglers. We jumped in the 3hr Alvarado working man’s tournament. The night started with a little technical difficulties but after 30mins we got the gremlin out of the boat and went to work. Alex broke the ice with a 3.5lb fish, I then pulled up the rear. We finished with 19.76 and the win. My sawgrassrods Bois d arc 7’3 hvy did the heavy stuff and the Bois d arc shaky head rod helped out with the second largest fish.

Sunday we had a special daddy/daughter trip, Vladimir and Sofija. Vladimir was here visiting his daughter all the way from Serbia. She’s a table tennis national champion! Vladimir wanted to catch his first US largemouth bass, and we were happy to help. Fishing was decent with several fish jumping off. But all in all a very enjoyable trip for them. Always good to see family spend time fishing together. He was also able to visit bass pro shop. This was Sofija’s first time fishing and she did great. Vladimir enjoy your visit and safe travels back home, Sofija enjoy your life here in the DFW, and congratulations on being a national champion! sawgrassrods

Tuesday we had Aaron from Washington state. Not a bad day but it was a little slow in between bites. After the mid day slump the bite began to pickup about 1:30. We jumped spots all day working hard but all in all Aaron enjoyed his Texas day on the lake. He fell in love with the assortment of sawgrassrods, keying in on the Bois d Arc series. Wednesday I met him down at the Sawgrass HQ., we went over the different options he was looking for and got down to business. Chris the in house rod builder got him situated with a couple rods and Aaron also placed a special order rod. Nothing like going to the source and getting exactly what you need and they ship it home for you! Aaron enjoy your new Sawgrass rods along with your stay here in the DFW.
