As the Orion spacecraft carrying 4 U.S. astronauts makes its way back to earth, we’d like to share another monument we erected at the U.S. Naval Academy for astronaut Bruce McCandless II and his wife, Bernice. In 1984, Capt. McCandless became the first person to make an untethered spacewalk. It’s been an honor to create lasting memorials for several U.S. astronauts.
