The leaves are at their peak right now, and this is the week to see Holmes County in color. I lived in Columbus for 25 years and I loved it. The growth, the energy, the pride people have in that city. I didn't want to move to Holmes County. I'd lived here as a teenager and couldn't wait to leave.

Three years ago I moved here full-time, and the sky is a big part of why I stayed. You can't see skies like these in Columbus. Out here I look up and see stars, satellites, planes, clouds and all that color.

But the real reason is down here on the ground: my husband, my parents, my dogs and my chickens. I have everything I need right here.

There's something about stepping into the farmers market on a Saturday morning that just hits different here in Ohio's Amish country.

The strawberries? They're gone by noon. The tomatoes taste like tomatoes. And the bread from the local bakers? That's the stuff that makes you slow down and actually *taste* what you're eating.

But here's what I've realized: the farmers market isn't just where I shop. It's where I understand the heartbeat of this place. Every vendor I talk to, every seasonal item I fill my basket with-it's a window into the values that make Amish country so special. Quality over convenience. Community over rush. Intentionality in everything.

That's the culture I wanted to steward when I started Cross-Key Vacation Rentals. That's what I want my guests to *feel* when they visit.
