After much considerable thought and with even more sadness, West Branch Aviation has been forced to shut down our Sight-Seeing Tour Flying business. The rise in all prices and the slow economy has made it impossible to make a profit doing something we truly love to do... sharing the love of our community through our love of flying. We are hopeful that one day we will be able to afford to reopen, and have truly appreciated ALL the wonderful folks we have serviced over the many years we were in business. For now, pray that the economy gets better and that the fun activities in life can become affordable again.

Here goes Tony with 3 happy customers, leaving the Millinocket Municipal Airport and heading for a scenic tour over Katahdin in all her spring glory. If you would like to fly over your favorite tri-town or local lakes region, West Branch Aviation is ready to take you on your personal or pre-planned tour. To those wonderful folks who have called to schedule scenic flights this month... we are so sorry the weather has not cooperated for your time frames. West Branch Aviation is dedicated to giving our customers the best tour possible, so we hope you are able to reschedule again. And to anyone who ever questioned whether we are opened year-round, the Katahdin Region is so lovely covered in a blanket of white.

Papa Jim took his grandkids for a scenic flight over the local lakes on a beautiful afternoon recently. Annabelle was lucky enough to sit in the co-pilot’s seat and her little brother Averitt got to wear the special “kid’s adapted” headset while in the back with his grandfather. The trio got a bird’s eye view of all the relatives’ camps on the Pemadumcook Chain of Lakes and marveled at how small the cars and trucks look on the roads. West Branch Aviation would like to thank Jimmy for allowing us to help create some memories for a couple of special kids.

West Branch Aviation provides several different types of flights, the most being our one hour and 1/2 hour Scenic Tours, but every once in awhile, somebody wants to check out their own property from above. That was the case today, with Shawn and Judy taking in a bird’s eye view of their home and property in the Katahdin Iron Works region. After they were satisfied with the view of their homestead, they then flew over Ripogenus Dam, where Shawn worked many years ago aiding in the monitoring the Spruce Bud Worm 🐛. We would like to thank this couple for showing US around THEIR neck of the woods and hope they come back for another jaunt some day.

This weekend is proving to be a perfect scenic flight weekend... and the annual Fly-In/Cruise-In was the perfect time to spend an hour with us at West Branch Aviation. Bryan and Becky came from Patten to take advantage of the crystal blue sky for a flight over Mount Katahdin and Baxter State Park. The fall foliage was at peak as well, so their cameras were continually snapping pictures. We would like to thank this young couple for spending some time with us and hope to see them again some day.

Dave and Helen came from Houlton, on this annual Fly-In/Cruise-In day, to check out the foliage in the Katahdin Region. They were happy to catch a bird’s eye view of the mountain and Baxter State Park and the beautiful scenery over the local lakes and rivers. West Branch Aviation would like to thank this couple for spending part of their day with us and we hope we get to see them again some day.
