We are less than 1 month away from the first bull grunts of the season. Our preparation has been ongoing, and we are looking forward to working hard for this years hunts.

Nice bull Jordan saw while scouting last fall. Moose season is right around the corner. There’s a lot going on for us right now with checking gear and getting everything in order.

Congratulations to our newest Registered Maine Guide, Gavin!
Gavin started apprenticing with us in 2021 at just 13 years old, working as a camp helper. Since then, he hasn’t missed a season and has been part of numerous successful moose hunts and packouts.
Since starting, he has gained hands on experience in every aspect of guiding moose hunts—from scouting and placing game cameras to setting up camp, cutting firewood, helping with quartering, caping, meat care, and packouts. As well as tearing camp down at the end of the season.

He has worked hard, put in the time, and earned this opportunity. We’re excited to see what he accomplishes as a guide and proud to have him representing Big Mountain Outfitters and the Maine guiding community.

Congratulations, Gavin! You earned it!

Moose focused business - we aren’t distracted guiding other activities, we are 100% focused on your moose hunt.

Serious scouting - This season we will utilize between 150-200 cameras for our hunts. We also spend countless hours scouting on foot before our clients ever arrive.

Years of history - This team isn’t new, we are seasoned veterans of the moose hunt at this point. We know how to react when the going gets tough.
