This mixed crew of two pairs did an outstanding job braving Katahdin through a full mountain experience! The trip that almost wasn't. Over the last few days the weather panned out in our favor; an earlier predicted storm was now delayed until the afternoon. When conditions line up just right, you may find yourself above the clouds and we sure lucked out with incredible views. Pamola, which protects Katahdin from those aiming for its summit, delivered with sustained 30mph winds on the tableland, and a touch of rain at the tail end of our adventure. Not all days are doable, but these folks battled it out and prevailed! πŸ‘πŸ½

Our fishing guide Alex knows right where to go regardless of the time of year for some good fishing. He's adventured to many of the lakes, ponds, and streams throughout the region, but really enjoys guiding the West Branch of the Penobscot River.

Not only is he mindful on planning the logistics around your needs, he will teach you the way of the river and where your best chances for success will be. This meet up between friends today highlights what a great day on the river can be. Many fish were caught! Good luck out there, and tight lines! 🎣

So incredibly proud of team Amsterdam! πŸ‡³πŸ‡± Doubletop Mtn. when approached from the south, is very Katahdin like. A mini Katahdin adventure in its own right. Tight verticals, dancing clouds, and a late morning clearing to showcase the greatest mountain with its expansive watershed and valleys. A perfect day in Baxter!

Our recreational guide Cody is no stranger to solo hikes, and took the opportunity to snag some pictures of a crucial barrier to look for when hiking Katahdin. A former Baxter State Park trail crew worker, he has installed rip rap, rock steps, waterbars, and most importantly, fencing for our fragile ecosystem.

The arctic tablelands of Katahdin contain species that are found there, and are sparse to non-existent elsewhere. Only the highest peaks in specific regions of our nation's climate can contain the atmospheric conditions to make it so. This fencing is notable at the famous Thoreau Spring at its elevation of around 4,600ft.

Pockwockamus Rock states before you enter the park, "Keep Maine Beautiful"! Do Maine and Baxter State Park right by staying on marked trails, and avoid crossing these fine string fences that keep our fragile ecosystems alive. Happy hiking! πŸ₯Ύ

Another day, another hike up Katahdin! "Uncle John" showed us Mainers up by conquering our greatest mountain with haste, and undoubtedly made Canada proud. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ We hit the summit well before noon, and tacked on an extension Hamlin Ridge descent with nothing but beautiful views. He also sported some Maine heritage by wearing one of our flags! Katahdin was pleased and granted us safe passage. 😎

What can't I say about this amazing Texas family! Brought up Katahdin at the tail end of this heat wave we've been experiencing. No fears of the heat, they brought their A game today! We were in the spirit of crushing it, and not letting the heat, nor black flys ruin our spirits. A long, but rewarding day on Maine's greatest mountain! πŸ”₯

It's not often that both KFT guides are off on the same day in the summer! Fishing guide Alex, and Recreational guide Cody, hit the Penobscot River Trails for some prime biking conditions this afternoon along the East Branch of the Penobscot River. A glimpse of Katahdin's Knife Edge, as well as a ruffed grouse and white tailed deer were among the sights to see during today's adventure. πŸš΅πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ
