The Travel Guest

The Travel Guest Expert trip planner with free booking services for travel guests traveling far and often. A little more about me! My history of travel goes way back.

As a child, I had a mom that lived on the West Coast and a dad that lived on the East Coast. I spend much of my childhood on a plane going back and forth. Both parents instilled a love of travel for me early getting the privilege of learning through different cultures and seeing the world. I carried this love into my adult career and spend as much of my free time on vacation as I can including trying to get on one international trip a year when possible.

Don’t let your vacation end before it even begins! Here are four common reasons American travelers are denied entry into another country and how to avoid them:

1️⃣ Not enough validity remaining on U.S. passport – Many countries require at least six months validity remaining beyond the dates of your trip. Look up your destination’s entry requirements at travel.state.gov/destination.

2️⃣ No visa or electronic travel authorization – Each country has its own entry requirements, and many require foreign visitors (including Americans) to get a visa or electronic travel authorization before arrival.

3️⃣ Lost passport on plane/in airport (more common than you think!) – Avoid putting your passport in the seat-back pocket and keep it in a safe spot while moving through the airport.

4️⃣ Packed something not allowed in destination country – Some common items in the United States (certain medications, fresh produce, CBD and medical ma*****na, etc.) are banned in other countries. ALWAYS look up local laws and what you can and cannot pack at travel.state.gov/destination before you go.

Our destination information pages on travel.state.gov/destination include emergency contact info for the U.S. Embassy that you can save right to your device. You can also find information about local laws, entry requirements, tips from the U.S. Embassy and more. Make it a habit to review the page for your destination before every trip abroad.

The heart needs a little salt and sand every once in a while.

A vacation doesn’t need to be extravagant. A little place to cozy and rest can go a long way.

My favorite? The Saltwater Inn, Westport.

The best part- you can watch the waves right outside of your room. Or surf if you have to urge.

Traveling to Banff, Quito, Aix-en-Provence, Chiang Mai, Newcastle, Mombasa, Spokane, you name it, this activity will give you an introduction to local culture to the place you visit.

Find the town’s local farmers market or grocery store and enjoy a picnic in a park or a beautiful natural area nearby. *Tip try to find seasonal, local fruits, veggies, breads, and meats. See if you can avoid brands you know already.

Major airlines are stepping in with rebooking support for passengers with disrupted flights. Visit United, Delta, Southwest, JetBlue, Frontier, Allegiant, and American Airlines websites for discounted or fixed fares, provide proof of cancelation.

If you can’t rebook, file a claim with your travel insurance or check airline policies for refunds and credits.

Why travel agents matter ✈️
As your travel agent, I will handle the stressful calls and rebooking - do you don’t have to.
I know the systems, options, and how to move fast when it matters most.
