Have the woods seemed a little quiet lately? 🐦‍⬛
The seasons are shifting, and so are the local bird populations!

While we prepare to close our gates to protect our roads during the snowy season, the monument's other residents are also preparing for winter in their own ways.

Many birds are headed south for the winter to warmer areas that have more abundant food. Around here, things like insects, berries and seeds are harder to come by in winter months. They also look for areas more conducive to breeding, where they can devote energy to the process, rather than using all of their energy to stay warm in the cold. 🥶

Just like fading light causes us to get sleepy in the evening, shorter days with dwindling daylight cue birds that migration time is coming. Their bodies respond to the cue by growing restless and increasing their appetite, so that the bird can store extra energy for a long journey.

So this year, make like a bird in fall and find some cozy snacks for the chilly weather! 🍂

Good morning, folks!

A few announcements 📣
The orders have already started coming in for Thanksgiving, so I wanted to remind you all that because I am the only baker, I can only take a limited amount of orders. 🍪🍞🥧

So, if you're planning on putting in an order for Thanksgiving, I would do so sooner rather than later. Pick up days will be through Wednesday November 25th. 🦃

Please state the day and time you would like to pick up when you order. We do offer delivery for a fee, depending on how far it is from Brownville. 🚗

I've gone ahead and revised the menu for all orders. Once the farmstand is done, there will be goodies in there through the 25th as well. We will be closed on Thanksgiving.
