The glorious Oktav votive altar from 1766 is normally set up in Notre-Dame de Luxembourg Cathedral for the two-week Oktav celebration each year. But because this is the 400th Jubilee year of Our Lady of Luxembourg, the Oktav altar is set up already in the cathedral in anticipation of the closing of the 400th Jubilee on May 25. If you get to Luxembourg City now before May 25, but sure to stop at the cathedral. View the glorious votive altar and bring your prayers and needs before Our Lady of Luxembourg, the Consoler of the Affliction. Devotion to her began 400 years ago amidst the Forty Year's War, famine and the plague. Our Luxembourg ancestors have come before her for intercession and help for 400 years! Incredible!

When in Luxembourg City, enjoy Oberweis patisserie on Grand Rue! Amazing candy, bread, bakery, desserts, ice cream, lite lunches and gifts! Always decadent! The Dame Blanche (white lady) is my favorite!

Join me and my Luxembourg Adventures tour group in Luxembourg for the 400th Jubilee Oktav of Our Lady of Luxembourg! Celebrate 400 years of devotion to Our Lady of Luxembourg, Mary, Consoler of of the Afflicted. Visit the beautiful 1766 Oktav votive altar in Notre-Dame de Luxembourg cathedral and offer your prayers before the beautiful statue treasured by Luxembourgers for 400 years! The Oktav runs from May 10-25, 2025! The closing procession with the statue through the streets of Luxembourg City will be held on Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. My group will be in the procession representing all Luxembourg Americans. We will be carrying three historic Luxembourg American banners - 1892, 1966, and our new 2024 Luxembourg American banner. What a moment it will be in Luxembourg American history! Happy 400th Jubilee Our Lady of Luxembourg! You are still a Mother who consoles!

Proud to be standing in front of the ancestral home of my g-g-g-grandfather, Philip Goniva and his wife, Susanne Bettendorff, in Koerich, Luxembourg. Philip was a tailor by trade but specialized in making saddles for horses. Philip, Susanne and their children immigrated to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin in 1846! What a gift to find their ancestral home!

One of the largest settlements of Luxembourgers in the U.S. was Dubuque, Iowa and the surrounding region! Like many larger Luxembourgish towns, Dubuque traditionally had a number of Luxembourg social clubs and they often had a Luxembourg social hall where the Luxembourgers gathered to socialize, drink and conduct club affairs. Check out Denny's Lux Club (great bar and great food) on the west side of Dubuque. Denny's Lux Club is the remnant of Dubuque's former Luxembourg social hall in downtown Dubuque. They've got GREAT t-shirts and sweatshirts! Check it out!

This year, 2025, the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation (Our Lady of Luxembourg) in Carey, Ohio is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. The big celebration will be on May 25 - the same day as the big closing celebration for the 400th Jubilee of Our Lady of Luxembourg (the original statue) in Luxembourg City. So the statues are 250 years apart in age! You've got to get to Carey, Ohio sometime and visit the beautiful shrine and the see the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Luxembourg. Fr. Joseph Gloden, a Luxembourg immigrant and founder of the shrine, had the statue brought to Carey, Ohio in 1875. To learn more about the statue and shrine in Carey, check out my new book "A Mother Who Consoles: A Timeline of Devotion to Our Lady of Luxembourg in the Grand Duchy and the U.S." The book is available on amazon.com (U.S) and amazon.de (Luxembourg). Happy 150th anniversary Our Lady of Consolation in Carey!

Today marks the 80th anniversary of our beloved Grand Duchess Charlotte returning to Luxembourg after the liberation of Luxembourg by Allied Forces. The Grand Duchess and her family had been in exile in the U.S. and Canada ever since 1939. It was a jubilant day when Charlotte returned home to the country she encouraged and sustained from afar for nearly six years! The American - Luxembourg friendship formed at this time has lasted 80 years. May it continue to be strengthened so that democracy can reign throughout the U.S. and Europe!

On 14 April 1945, an American Douglas C-47 brought Grand Duchess Charlotte back to Luxembourg after her exile in London

MY LATEST BOOK IS NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON!

I am SUPER EXCITED to announce that my latest book
"A Mother Who Consoles (Vol. 1)," is now available on amazon.com (in the U.S.) and amazon.de (in Luxembourg)! I wrote this book in partnership with my dear friend and fellow Luxembourg dual citizen, Mary Gellerup Bolich.

The 167-page, hard-cover book with 300+ photos offers A Timeline of Devotion to Our Lady of Luxembourg in the Grand Duchy and the U.S. We wrote his book as part of the celebration for the 400th Jubilee of Our Lady of Luxembourg.

Very little has ever been written in English about Our Lady of Luxembourg and this concept of combining the timelines of devotion to her both in Luxembourg and the U.S. has never been attempted before.

Mary and I are incredibly proud of our book which describes the devotion from the 1600s - 1800s. Volume 2 will focus on the devotion in Luxembourg and the U.S. from 1901 - 2025, and will be available later this year.

Thanks to all in Luxembourg and the U.S. who assisted us in our research! This has been a real labor of love!

To order the book, just go on amazon.com (in the U.S.) or amazon.de (in Luxembourg) and search "A Mother Who Consoles." Enjoy a great read and a visual delight!

MY LATEST BOOK IS ABOUT TO BE RELEASED! I'm super fired up today because my latest book "A Mother Who Consoles: A Timeline of Devotion to Our Lady of Luxembourg in the Grand Duchy and the U.S. - Volume 1" is about to be released in the days ahead! I wrote the book in partnership with my dear friend, Mary Gellerup Bolich. I just signed off on the book with amazon.com and it will also be available for Luxembourgers at amazon.de.

The 157-page book, with 300+ photos, is perhaps the most definitive history of Our Lady of Luxembourg in English and the first attempt ever to combine the timelines of devotion to her both in Luxembourg and in the U.S.

Mary Gellerup Bolich and I wrote the book in commemoration of the 400th Jubilee of Our Lady of Luxembourg begin celebrated in 2024-2025.

So stayed tuned in the next few days for the official launch of "A Mother Who Consoles!"

Check out the beautiful portal of the Cathedral Notre Dame de Luxembourg in Luxembourg City. It was built as the Jesuit church in Luxembourg City in 1613 and dedicated in 1621. It became Luxembourg's cathedral in 1870. The cathedral is a "must see" when you visit Luxembourg!
