Did you know that the FIRST St. Mary's school and convent building from the 1850s still exists in Port Washington? It is NOT on Johnson Street, but rather the building was moved to Powers Street in 1895 and still stands today! For many years it was the home of the Sam Guenther family of the Guenther Brickyard in Port Washington. This home which still stands on Powers Street is the OLDEST building associated with St. Mary's Parish in Port Washington! Learn more......

Check out the beautiful stained-glass windows at St. Nicholas Church in Dacada, Wisconsin. St. Nicholas Parish was founded by Luxembourg immigrants in 1848. The current brick church, with the beautiful windows, was built in 1911-1912 and is the third church to serve the parish. The windows were fabricated by Munich Studios of Chicago and were placed in the church sometime after it was dedicated in 1912. If you get to Dacada, you've got to check out the glorious stained-glass windows in St Nicholas Church!

Check out the gravestone of my g-g-g-grandparents, Francois & Catherine (Genin) Antoine, in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Church, Wisconsin. Francois was a well-known stone mason in northern Ozaukee County and built many of the stone houses there. Catherine was the most noted mid-wife in the Town of Belgium and delivered many of the babies years ago. But most importantly, check out their refurbished gravestone! It is so well done and a tribute to their lives and legacy!
