Most leaders don’t know that the people there leading has 2 different “brains”.

The Thinking Brain — the one that absorbs frameworks, sets intentions, and knows exactly what good looks like — has been trained endlessly. It knows what to do.

The Responsive Brain is the one that actually takes over under pressure. It doesn’t respond to frameworks. It doesn’t consult the plan. It responds to experience.

That gap between what your team knows and what your team does isn’t a culture problem. It’s a biological default. And it’s been running your team but nobody is addressing this system… until now!

I’ve spent years building a methodology that works with biology instead of fighting against it.

I built a tool that I am SO proud of that we are ready to put in front of real teams. This tool is more than a diagnostic; it analyzes symptoms, behaviors, and patterns to identify the behavioral response defaults driving them.

I’m looking for 5–10 leaders who want to beta test the Team Operating System Profile. This is a tool that maps your team’s biological defaults and gives every team member a private individual pattern profile to use for their own personal growth.

What you get:
-Your team’s collective operating pattern (the system underneath the symptoms)
-Every team member’s individual default pattern on your team
-A private aggregate report delivered directly to you (the leader)
-A real conversation about what it means, how to train your team to work better, faster, and more dynamically together

No cost. No pitch. Just data and a genuine conversation about what’s driving your team’s gaps.

If you lead a team and you’re tired of knowing what’s wrong without having a system to address it, this is a great place to start.

The biology is just the mechanism. Your people are the solution 🫶🏽

Many teams are “fine”. Nice people. They show up. Work gets done. But there’s a slow drip...

Small disconnects. Avoided tensions. Decisions that take forever. Ideas that don’t surface. The same meetings over and over. Responsibility that weighs on you. Innovation that stalled somewhere along the way.

It’s so gradual it feels normal. And it’s common. But normal isn’t what your team is capable of. There is so much talent that gets trapped within teams because of these behavior drips.

Leaders try to support growth, but they ultimately solve for symptoms:
-“Let’s improve communication skills”
-“We need teach conflict resolution”
-“Let’s hire someone to help with change management.”

These help temporarily. But they don’t stop the leak and behavior doesn’t change.

Because the symptoms aren’t the problem. They’re signals.

When sustained pressure—uncertainty, risk, social exposure—hits a team, something biological happens. People shift into protective mode. They hold back ideas (protecting belonging). They avoid risk (protecting credibility). They resist collaboration (protecting autonomy).

Individually, these make sense. Collectively, they create the slow drip you’re feeling. Teams will almost *always* follow these primal, biological default patterns.

Most development misses this entirely. It treats symptoms without addressing the source: the collective operating system that defaults to protection instead of performance.

Real change requires understanding what’s actually driving the patterns.
-How your brain defaults under pressure.
-Why your team’s protective behaviors emerged.
-And how to train people to perform together, no matter what the conditions may be.

That’s the difference between treating symptoms and solving the problem.

What slow drip patterns do you see most in teams? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear what you’re seeing!

Here are three signs for the women that belong with me in Colorado this fall for my Boot Camp: a woman’s courageous rise.
1. You’re too busy. Busyness is the enemy of strategic power. It’s easy to default to this because it makes us feel like we are adding value, helping others, and we genuinely enjoy solving problems. Taking time can seem counterproductive for someone that’s too busy, but this is the kind of trip that helps you live in more alignment in a sustainable way. I’m not going to tell you what to do(I’ll teach you how your brain works and why you make the choices you do). YOU are going to go on a journey that reveals where your next shift is for growth.
2. You’ve never done anything like this before and you’re probably scared too if you’re being honest with yourself. Fear and intuition can be confused very easily and I’ve seen too many women. Let fear become their limits and keep them living in just a fraction of the potential that they have.
3. You’re exhausted. Again, quite counterintuitive to sign up for a trip like THIS but you are your greatest source of power and so often we get exhausted when we are disconnected from ourselves. Being intentional about this and connecting with not just yourself but other ferocious amazing women are the least people feeling completely re-energized. It beats a trip to the beach or spot any day and leaves you with tools that you get to bring back to your life and to work that will guide you into your most aligned life.

If this sparked anything inside of you check out the link in the comments or in the bio. Tag or send this to someone that needs this trip!

On International Women’s Day, I ask… what is a “woman”? There is a lot of debate around this right now.

Some think that a “woman” should be:
-obedient
-supportive
-feminine
-quiet

Others think she should be:
-a certain size
-pretty
-fashionable
-polished

Others think she should:
-become a mother
-be the peacemaker
-do it all
-ask for permission

Constant boxes the want to fit us into and sweeping beliefs that barely scratch the surface of the vibrant, dynamic women that shape the world.

The second a woman becomes:
-powerful
-challenging
-discerning
-an advocate

Many get uncomfortable, and try to place their expectations of smallness upon us. Try to chastise us and remind us of what they think we should be. Or maybe they re-label us and call us:
-manipulative
-disruptive
-evil
-crazy
-failures

Here’s the thing: women are terrifyingly powerful. And the thing about being pushed down every time we pop back up? Well those are reps, making our muscles stronger. Comfort breeds weakness, but women have been uncomfortable their own skin for so long that there’s no danger of weakness.

What is a woman unfiltered?
-A woman is at the center of all creation.
-A woman is an ultimate strategist.
-A woman is a justice seeker. A warrior.
-A woman is an intuitive. A truth teller.
-A woman is wisdom, grace, and dignity.

She is humor and joy and sorrow and pain.

She is complex and because of the range of things she sees feels, she is holds dynamic potential.

So if you want a woman that fits in a small box, or if you’re a woman who thinks she needs to stay in a small box, you’re missing out on the incredible power that lies within.

There’s no wrong way to be a “woman”. Theres no way to define a woman.

There are ways try to cage her, to tame her, to break her. But remember, every time you do, you just make her stronger.

Happy International Woman’s Day to my sisters around the world. Today I celebrate you, your wisdom, your power, your presence, your dynamic brilliance, your contributions, and the depth of love for those around you.

Most people think team-limiting pressure comes from deadlines, competition, or market conditions. But much of the pressure actually comes from inside the team itself.

Much of the pressure inside organizations shows up within teams as people debate strategy, defend priorities, weigh risk through their own lenses, manage expectations across the group, and push decisions forward without risking their credibility.

Default behaviors begin to shift from contribution to self-protection. Competition starts to dominate collaboration. Decisions get delayed as uncertainty threatens the possibility of success. Work becomes siloed and tightly controlled. Innovation stalls and momentum begins to drain from the team. Occasionally someone jumps in with individual heroics that move the needle forward, but most responsibility settles onto the same few people who slowly burn out.

On the surface, it can look responsible. High standards. Careful planning. Strong individual performance.

But consistent growth slows.

The collective power of the team remains underutilized.

Most leadership development still focuses on strengthening individual capabilities. But organizational performance isn’t sustained at the individual level — it’s sustained at the team level as organizations face challenges that no single person can solve.

When pressure rises, success depends on how well teams understand the protective patterns that emerge and shift them into shared ownership and coordinated action.

Pressure-proof teams aren’t the ones with the least pressure. They’re the ones that learn how to use it. When teams understand how pressure shapes behavior, they can shift from individual heroics to shared ownership and unlock the collective capability that was there all along.

Many teams recognize these patterns immediately once they’re named.

I’m hosting a webinar on March 11 to explore how pressure reshapes team performance and what leaders can do to help their teams shift from protection to collaboration.

Personal brain failure moment. Most of the time we don’t get the gift of catching ourselves (or others catching us) and our brains keep building on false information. This time, it was *pretty obvious* and I had to laugh at myself. Enjoy behind the scenes story time with Sarah!

Experiences are so powerful when they’re used intentionally. We have spent the last 10 years leading and learning from groups to understand how pressure changes the way people think, decide, and collaborate. Then, we recreated the process and applied it to training sessions, workshops, and retreats where we teach people how to think… and how THEY think, and not what to think, so teams can move past all the bs that gets in the way of momentum.

We are one of a kind, just like you!✨

01/30/2026

Most talent is lost long before people quit; capable people often get stuck inside of teams who have not been trained to work together under stress. When pressure hits, behavior changes and becomes self-protecting, which is why we see so many symptoms of unhealthy behavior in teams.

Training with us is different - fun and highly effective! It starts w it h playful challenge where we help team members see how they respond under pressure.

Then teams reflect together on why they noticed and how those patterns shape decisions and behavior.

Teams don’t leave just knowing what to do, they leave having practiced it together. Each session builds on the ones before, strengthening trust, communication, collaboration, and dynamic thinking.

You can train with us at PowerUp in Minneapolis, bring the experience to your team on site or nearby, or design a deeper retreat experience.

However you engage, the work is the same. Real practice. Shared experience. Teams built for pressure.

I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings but… I get drained by women’s events that feel like networking with nicer fonts.

Pay-to-play. Sponsor shoutouts. Polished small talk.

And the unspoken pressure to be “on”, even when you’re running on fumes and dying for someone to see YOU.

If you like that vibe, go you! But I personally don’t want that.

I crave depth. Genuine connection and conversation with other women facing similar pressures navigating business demands, societal pressures, and expectations of perfection.

So I’m creating space for authentic connection that transcends roles, titles, programs, and sponsors… because the women I’m here for (and honestly, the women I need in my life) don’t need another room where they have to perform.

I’m starting something new that’s free to attend and free to be. And it always will be.

A place where women don’t have to be palatable, polished, or productive to belong.

This time is for:
• coming back to yourself
• dropping the expectations
• loosening the grip
• remembering who you are beneath the roles

Not to rebel… but to rejoice.

Less talking about it. More doing it.

These will be monthly experiences in the North Loop (Minneapolis).
This month: karaoke + dancing.
First names only.
Dark room. Maybe some disco lights. No pretense.

A little space to laugh again.
To feel alive again.
To spark joy and strength back into us.

Because you’re not a project to be “fixed”, and you’re so much more than or a title or a role.

You’re a human… and might I add… a f*cking force.

If this is your vibe (even if we’re not connected yet, but you feel the pull), consider this your invitation.

Drop a “ME” in the comments or DM me and I’ll add you to the very unpolished, non-formatted email invites.

-Sarah

What a fantastic night celebrating the launch of Boredroom Breakouts first physical leader and team training facility, PowerUp, with our insiders. These insiders are some of the most outstanding humans, and they have joined our retreats ranging from Alaska to the Dolomites in Italy, to workshops on flying trapeze or rock climbing here in the twin cities! The realest ones who are the most courageous leaders who stepped out boldly to overcome fear, challenged themselves and embraced personal and professional through shared experiences; they’ve said yes to adventures that so many would quite honestly have made some people vomit. But even *more* than that, they have encouraged, celebrated and invested their time, energy, wisdom, finances, and introductions on our behalf. Great things never happen in isolation, and success is never an individual effort. These are the ones who have shown the absolute magic and powerful force when a group of individuals is committed to collaborative excellence. These are the ones who ROSE to every challenge with us and FOR us, and it was such an honor to celebrate the opening of PowerUp with them. They truly are the ones who have championed this in and it is with absolute delight that we announce: the next era of leadership development is here! 💪🏽✨
