Apollo met Disney today… and we spent the afternoon gushing about the real star of the show: Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas 🐶🛳️✨

Today’s Royal Caribbean training was at Minnehaha Dog Park — because really, where else would you talk about a cruise ship’s Dog-in-Chief than at a dog park? It was the perfect setting to learn what’s coming next from one of the most innovative cruise lines at sea.

Star of the Seas sets sail in 2025 as the next ship in the groundbreaking Icon Class — and she’s packed with one-of-a-kind features:
🌊 7 immersive neighborhoods, including Thrill Island with the tallest slide at sea

𝗚𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻.

On this day in 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union troops finally arrived to announce that the last remaining enslaved people were free.

This marker stands near the spot where that long-overdue message of freedom was delivered — and where the legacy of Juneteenth lives on.

One of the things I love most about travel is how visiting new places opens our eyes. I grew up in Minnesota, in an environment that was well-meaning but very white — and that led to a lot of colorblindness. I didn’t fully understand how my privilege, and how I was taught, shaped my view of history.

I’ll never forget the experience of visiting an Underground Railroad museum in Memphis and feeling the weight of what I 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 know. The space between what I had learned and what I had yet to understand was vast — and eye-opening.

Learning about places like Galveston, visiting them in person, and truly listening to the stories and experiences of others has helped me grow not just as a traveler, but as a human.

History isn’t just something we read in textbooks — it’s something we carry, learn from, and respond to. And travel can bring us closer to one another by deepening our understanding of both the past and the present.

Today, on Juneteenth, I’m reflecting on how far we’ve come — and how much more we owe to those still fighting for true equity and justice.
