It’s an exciting few days at Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock Visitor Center. The Army Corps has opened up the upper miter gates, helping to divert the water over the falls so Xcel Wnergy workers can make repairs on the horseshoe dam. Come see the flow Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm.

We have opened with limited hours through the end of August. We won't be offering tours or allowing people in the observation deck, but weather permitting, the public is welcome to walk the lock wall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday this week.

The Upper Saint Anthony Falls Lock and Dam is open to visitors! We have a different entrance this year so you can get onto the lock without going through the building. Just look for this tent and sign at the end of the Stone Arch Bridge.

While you are visiting the lock we will have rangers and volunteers available to answer questions about the lock, the falls, and the history of the area. It's pretty hard to talk to people over the roar of the falls while maintaining good social distance though, so consider wearing masks like our rangers here. You don't have to wear them the entire time you are here, but you do when you are closer than 6 feet to someone.

We are open for self guided tours along the lock wall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. weather permitting.
