WALTON COUNTY, FL — A new game-changing mobile tool is now available to help beachgoers understand and protect their right to access Florida’s beaches. The Shoreline Defender App is officially live and ready for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Direct App Store links also available on the website.
Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, the Shoreline Defender App gives you the power to know where you legally stand — literally — on Walton County’s beaches.
How It Works:
Using your phone’s location, tide station data, and real-time elevation, the app shows whether you are in the green zone (public land) or the red zone (private property) when at the shoreline.
🟢 Green Zone = Public
🔴 Red Zone = Private
The app also features:
• Real-time tide tracking using our innovative shoreline gauge
• Forecasting tools to plan ahead — know when the water will drop below the Mean High Water Line (MHWL)
• A built-in measuring tool that activates when the tide exposes public land
• Manual search for specific Walton County beaches (e.g., Dune Allen, Seagrove) for remote testing or planning
With a simple tap of the “Tide” button, users can scroll through future dates and preview when public zones will be accessible. Once the tide drops into the green zone, the app unlocks powerful tools to help users identify where they can legally sit, walk, or relax — no guesswork required.
“Shoreline Defender empowers people with facts. No more confusion. If it’s green, it’s public.”
– Shoreline Defender Team
Note: This app is currently optimized for Walton County, Florida. Testing from other areas? No problem — just manually enter any Walton County beach to explore.
