Our artifact this week is a pink souvenir bowl from the 1893 Chicago world's fair. The 1893 Chicago world's fair also known as the World's Columbian Exposition was held from May 5 to October 31, 1893, celebrating the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World in 1492. This expansive fair occupied 686 acres of Chicago's South Side featuring exhibits from all over the world. It is documented that five former presidents were among the thousands of visitors to attend. Curious about what was on display? Check out this link for more information. https://worldsfairchicago1893.com/ Have a great week!
