Finally checked hiking and camping at Hanging Rock State Park off my bucket list!!

I got to walk out onto Hanging Rock at the summit—those views did NOT disappoint. I’ve been missing the mountains, and this was exactly what I needed. The waterfalls were absolutely beautiful, and even though we set up camp in the dark, we woke up to an amazing breakfast before hitting the trails.

Such a great place to adventure—definitely worth checking out!!

A few quick facts:
• Located in the Sauratown Mountains, often called “the mountains away from the mountains”
• Over 20 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy waterfall walks to challenging climbs
• Home to multiple waterfalls including Lower Cascades, Hidden Falls, and Window Falls
• The Hanging Rock Trail is about 3.6 miles round trip with one of the best summit views in NC
• Campground offers tent sites, RV spots, and group camping areas
• Also has a lake for swimming, kayaking, and fishing during warmer months

If you’re craving mountain views without heading deep into the Blue Ridge—this spot delivers!!

A HUGE shoutout to Josh for doing my very first Via Ferrata with me!!!! 🙌

He was such a calming presence during my three big panic moments — and trust me, those moments were REAL. 😅

Now… I just want to do them ALL!!!!!!

The crazy part? I am very much afraid of heights. After six years of adventures that have pushed me way outside my comfort zone, this was still one that tested me in every way. But here’s the thing… I’m on a mission to do everything that scares me until my last breath.

Because growth lives on the other side of fear.

This is your reminder — NEVER give up on yourself. No matter how long it takes. No matter how scary it feels. Keep showing up. Keep climbing. Keep saying YES.
Every year around the anniversary of my Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, I challenge my body and brain to do something bold. This year marked 15 years—and I celebrated by climbing my very first Via Ferrata.

Every year around the anniversary of my Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, I challenge my body and brain to do something bold. This year marked 15 years—and I celebrated by climbing my very first Via Ferrata.

Nelson Rocks didn’t just meet expectations… it pushed me in all the right ways.
As the longest Via Ferrata in the U.S., it’s known for its exposure, vertical climbs, and heart-pounding features. I won’t lie—there were 3 sections where my short stature had me PANICKED 😅… but I worked through it, and that feeling on the other side? Absolutely unmatched.

This was hands down one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.

If you’re even thinking about stepping out of your comfort zone… this is your sign.

A few quick facts about Nelson Rocks Via Ferrata:

• Located in the North Fork Valley of West Virginia
• Longest Via Ferrata in the United States (over 3 miles round trip)
• Climbs rise over 1,000 feet above the valley floor
• Features include suspension bridges, vertical ladders, and exposed traverses
• Climbers are always secured to a steel cable system for safety
• Guided experiences available for beginners and experienced adventurers alike
• Unreal views of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains
