Hidden deep within the surreal landscapes of Moonscape Valley near Hanksville, Long D**g Silver, also known as the Black Spire, rises from the desert floor like something from another planet. This towering sandstone formation has become a favorite for hikers, photographers, and adventurers chasing Utah’s most unreal landscapes.
At just around 2.2 miles round-trip from the road closure point off Highway 24, it’s one of those destinations that feels far more remote than it actually is. From the air, the winding canyons, barren ridgelines, and lunar-like terrain surrounding the spire make this corner of Utah even more breathtaking.
Southern Utah is full of places that hardly feel real, and this is one of them. ✈️🏜️
