Happy first day of March! With our season start on the horizon, we want to get you all as prepared as possible for your upcoming trips! A big part of getting ready for multi-day rafting trips is packing for them.

As we near the end of February, we begin the recruitment of new whitewater rafting guides. If you or someone you know has an adventurous persona and/or a proclivity for new and exciting challenges, then head to the Whitewater Rafting Certification Course page on the website of Mild to Wild, our parent company (linked above).

This professional certification program provides top tier training, and exceeds the state requirements in Arizona, Colorado and Utah. Those who pass the course will the skills required to raft some of the most exciting stretches of river in the SW United States.

The Moab Whitewater Guide School runs from May 7th-May 21st, and we have more Guide School opportunities in Durango which you can check out at the link at the top of this post.

NOTE: The location where you enroll in guide school will be the primary location that you'll guide at if hired.

Last week, you may remember that we announced the passing of legendary river runner and environmental activist, Herman Hoops.

Linked below is a short documentary on Hoops presented by NRS, in which Hoops embarks on his final rafting trip down through Desolation Canyon. It is with great sadness that we report that Herman Hoops has passed away at age 74. Herm Hoops lived a remarkable life as a park ranger, a legendary river guide, and he leaves behind an incredible legacy as an environmental activist.

Although we are saddened with his passing, we will look back fondly at his many years sharing wise (and often quite humorous) words, and we will be eternally thankful for all he's done to protect the natural splendors of this continent.

May you rest in peace, Herman Hoops.

For those unaware of the extent of his achievements in environmental activism, you can find that information at the following link. We also encourage you to watch the NPS short film on Herm Hoops called, "The Salad Days," which you can find on YouTube.

Who wouldn't love waking up to a morning like this? Watching warm pink clouds over sun-kissed canyon walls on the banks of the Green River while bundled up in a nice coat and sipping fresh-brewed camp coffee. Oh yeah, that's the way to do it!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!

To all Veterans of every branch in the military, we thank you for your service and wish you a Happy Veterans Day!

In celebration of this day, we're sharing this photo from the Gates of Lodore, a significant landmark along the Powell Expedition loop. John Wesley Powell was a Civil War veteran, and his expeditions laid the groundwork for outfitters like us to raft this canyon and several others.
